Applicants are required to meet the following criteria:

  • Grade 12 with relevant payroll diploma / payroll qualification
  • 3+ years experience in a payroll role (retail type industry advantageous)
  • Sage VIP experience as well as a web-based clocking system ideal
  • Pastel processing / accounting skills advantageous
  • HRPM (time and attendance system) & labour / tax legislation knowledge advantageous
  • Must have advanced Excel skills and good communication skills
  • Must be wiling to grow and have a valid drivers license
  • Must use own initiative, have excellent accuracy and be coachable
The successful applicant would be responsible for, but not limited to:
  • Payroll processing and activities associated with a monthly payroll function and to ensure prompt and accurate payment of wages / salaries for all employees
  • Gathering / examining timesheets for validity
  • Capturing new contracts and ensure supporting documentation is provided
  • Correct capturing of monthly payroll hours on VIP Payroll
  • Ensure stock take casual hours are processed and paid timeously
  • Capture approved leave and ensure correct overtime calculations
  • Correct processing of deductions
  • Handle payroll queries and payment discrepancies
  • General financial assistance
  • Maintain employee files and handle take-ons and resignations
  • General filing and data capturing
  • Assist with Dept Labour documentation required for inspections
  • Monitor staff advances
  • Manage staff loans
  • Schedule for long service awards
  • Sundry payments and travel claims
