Relief Travel Specialist - Luxury Safari Travel Location: Hybrid - Cape Town, PinelandsSalary: R25,000 R45,000 per month, depending on experienceContract: Full-time, permanent Are you a highly experienced inbound travel consultant looking for more variety, flexibility, and purpose in your role? This is a rare opportunity to join a leading, award-winning luxury safari brand as a Relief Travel Specialist. This is not a standard consulting position. It is designed for a confident, service-driven individual who thrives under pressure, enjoys stepping into different desks and regions, and is eager to make an impact across the team. As the Relief Travel Specialist, you will provide essential support by covering desks when consultants are away, assisting during peak periods, and managing educational and hosted bookings. You will be trusted with full responsibility, creative freedom, and access to a broad portfolio of exclusive products and regions across Southern and East Africa. Key Responsibilities: Take full ownership of consultant desks during periods of leave or absence, including managing active bookings, requotes, and proposalsDesign and cost bespoke luxury itineraries, working directly with international agents and preferred suppliersSupport and coordinate educational trips in close collaboration with the sales teamAssist with loading bookings and following up on provisional files during high-volume periodsFollow up on inactive or dormant leads to help convert outstanding businessParticipate in testing and improving internal systems and processesWork within an early and late shift rotation, as well as rotating emergency dutyCollaborate openly with colleagues while managing your responsibilities independently Required Experience and Skills: Minimum of three to five years of previous experience in inbound tour consulting, preferably within luxury or tailor-made African travelStrong working knowledge of Southern and East Africa destinationsProficiency in Tourplan, WETU, and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)Excellent understanding of supplier terms, travel conditions, and the sales processAbility to communicate professionally and clearly with agents, suppliers, and colleaguesCommercial awareness and the ability to make strategic decisions when neededProven track record of delivering service excellence under pressure Ideal Candidate Profile: Calm, composed, and client-focused, even in high-pressure situationsMotivated by quality and excellence rather than strict sales targetsEnergetic, detail-oriented, and self-drivenA natural problem-solver who enjoys taking initiativeWilling to share knowledge and inspire others in the teamPassionate about creating unforgettable guest experiences What You Can Expect: A hybrid work model for improved flexibility and balanceA dynamic team culture where collaboration and innovation are encouragedThe opportunity to work across different markets, clients, and regionsDirect involvement in high-value bookings and educational projectsA strong brand name that will enhance your professional profileClear growth pathways and opportunities to contribute strategically
