Job Description
Our Policy & Communications team collaborates with governmental and policy organizations at local and national levels. Focusing on legislative and regulatory matters that promote and safeguard the discovery of innovative medicine, vaccines, and animal health products, while enhancing patient access to care. We diligently monitor and manage our company's reputation by effectively communicating the impactful work we do to enhance lives.
Major Responsibilities:
- Creating a compelling corporate narrative that highlights our company's value proposition in key SSA ( Sub Saharan Africa ) markets.
- Devising and executing an external communications strategy utilizing traditional, digital, and social media to position our company favorably in the minds of key stakeholders.
- Implementing external communications strategies to align with organizational environmental shaping priorities at both company-wide and brand levels in support of commercial goals.
- Ensuring executive preparedness for media interactions.
- Driving Corporate Responsibility and Patient Support Initiatives across SSA.
- Managing Crisis and Issues to safeguard our company's reputation.
- Proactively monitoring media reports for pertinent information that could impact our markets in SSA, coordinating responses accordingly.
- Developing and implementing an internal communications strategy that complements Human Resources and the Managing Director's approach to employee engagement, emphasizing leadership visibility.
- Collaborating with media, PR, event vendors, and strategic partners in SSA countries as needed.
- Leading our participation in working groups within industry associations to drive engagement (e.g. IPASA).
Key Competencies & Requirements:
- Proficiency in identifying and seizing reputation and brand opportunities across traditional and social media platforms.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on business presentations.
- Strong networking abilities, fostering relationships with the media and other key stakeholders.
- Designing and executing media events to support organizational objectives.
- Coordinating the development and production of communications materials for brand, company reputation, and CSR initiatives within the SSA region.
Functional Competencies:
- Building internal and external networks to facilitate effective message delivery.
- Providing advice and coaching to senior leaders.
- Operating efficiently in a regulated industry, preferably with pharmaceutical sector experience.
- Maintaining high standards of ethics and professionalism in all communications.
- Demonstrating strong speaking, writing, editing, and research skills for media releases and presentations.
- Proficiency in developing and executing digital and social media strategies.
Skills:
- Fluency in English, both oral and written.
- Scientific communications proficiency is an advantage.
- Detail-oriented with a knack for quality and technical information translation.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, and relevant design software.
- Exceptional analytical and presentation skills.
- Ability to navigate a global matrix environment.
- Influencing without formal authority.
- Self-disciplined with a focus on processes and high ethical standards.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in public relations, journalism, communications, business, or marketing.
Experience:
- Minimum of five years in corporate communications or public relations.
Special Requirements:
- Code 8 Driver's license.
- Willingness to travel.
