  • Grade 12 Certificate


National Diploma
  • Safety Management / Environmental Health
  • NEBOSH
  • Valid Driver's License


Computer Literate
  • MS Office Suite

Minimum Experience:

  • 5 years SHE experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Implementation and maintenance of the ISO 45001, ISO 14001 systems
  • Managing Occupational Health and Safety and Health and Safety Act and Regulations
  • Managing National Environmental Management Act and Regulations

Key Tasks:

Including but not limited to:

  • Assist with compliance with relevant legislation i.e. Occupational Health, Environmental & Safety Act 85 of 199
  • Management, administration, document control and updating of SHE Management System documents in accordance with the ISO and Weir Group Standards requirements
  • Management and administration of environmental requirements, that includes waste management, permits, licences and other
  • Administration, maintenance and updating of SHE Management system documentation t system
  • Implement and maintain the Weir ZERO Harm Behavioural Framework
  • Facilitate incident and accident investigations, also including near misses
  • Managing incidents on the Shield system
  • Manage SHE nonconformities and give regular feedback
  • Conduct regular site walks and engage employees in behavioural safety
  • Engage with employees on unsafe acts and conditions
  • Coordinate and maintain SHE Electronic Management Systems with regards to documentation and data input
  • Assist in developing and oversee the company's internal and external training requirements (Contractor and employees) i.e Induction, fire drills, accident prevention
  • Ensure contractor management systems are in place and maintained, including contractor audits, inspections, engagements and follow ups
  • Conduct contractor inspections for high risk activities that may include work conducted after hours/ during the weekend
  • Conduct daily meetings with supervisors and employees and update them on SHE matters
  • Conduct daily SHE inspection across the facility and attend departmental green area meetings
  • Facilitate risk assessments and manage action plans
  • Coordinate and assist in hygiene and environmental surveys, compile corrective action plans and close out of findings
  • Facilitate, prepare and participate in monthly SHE committee meetings
  • Compile and provide SHE performance, month end reports and maintain site and departmental specific statistics
  • Ensure that all SHE information is communicated, posted, updated and current on SHE Notice boards
  • Participate in the audits programme for internal and external assessments
  • Provide guidance and mentor SHE Representatives, supervisors and employees
  • Active involvement in short, medium and long term department, site and company planning strategies
  • Manage SHE nonconformances and provide regular feedback
  • Recommend improvements, support the development of action plans and monitor for effective implementation and/or maintenance
  • Facilitate and arrange for the delivery and receipt of branch SHE Consignments
  • Coordinate and make arrangements for SHE Departmental events
  • Place and follow up on orders, invoices and payments
  • Perform any reasonable tasks when requested
  • Adhere to all SHE and housekeeping requirements.
  • Adhere to Duty of Care Policy at all times
  • Coordinate and participate in Wellness Programme
