About the Role:


The Logistics Clerk is responsible for the administrative functions within the Trade Operations Department as it relates to obtaining of estimates though to the arrival of shipments at desired points of destination.


Key responsibilities:

  • Requesting freight quotations, reviewing freight costs and based on outcomes award shipments accordingly
  • Feedback timeously to sales on estimates requests and be able to provide the best alternatives based on their requirements
  • Control shipments and facilitate the shipping of products by arranging transportation for ready shipments using the most efficient method of shipping based on required arrival date and follow through updating shipping report
  • Requesting shipping documents and maintaining strict adherence to SARS regulations for ensuring export documents are compliant
  • Work closely with the Procurement Imports Team to timeously update Sales teams of delays and inform Regional Logistics team of incoming shipments
  • Prepare import/export documents in accordance with established procedures and guidelines
  • Calculates duties, tariffs, price conversions, weight and volume of merchandise that is imported or exported to foreign countries
  • Verifies that invoices are accurate in accordance with physical shipment and customer's SLI, volume, value of materials/goods, country of origin and other regulatory requirements
  • Calculates value of duties and tariffs due on transported goods

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

Required:

  • Matric/NQF4 equivalent certificate
  • Relevant Logistics/Supply Chain Management Qualification or 13 yrs relevant experience
  • Minimum of 13 yrs experience in International Freight with a warehousing environment of which must have been in the handling, storage and dispatching of cargo.
  • Experience in incoterms and clearing instructions
  • Experience in transshipments
  • Experience in imports
  • Experience in Windowsbased ERP system

Beneficial:

  • NetSuite working knowledge.; and/or
  • Other relevant diplomas (e.g., imports)
  • An ability to traverse various workspaces easily with comfort in the world of logistics
  • Experience as a Logistics Clerk within FMCG

  • Computer literacy highly Computer literate and comfortable with basic technical aspects of common operating systems with Microsoft Office general excellence
  • Competent Professional business written and verbal communications skills. The ability to express yourself clearly and effectively within the company.
