Primary Purpose of the Job:

The purpose of this role is to assist, consult and advise existing and prospective members of Printing SA on labour relations, human resources, employment equity and training and development.

To plan and execute all member services to the chamber and member companies respectively and in so doing ensure that the chamber meets its objectives.


Description of responsibilities:

Labour Consulting:

  • Chairing disciplinary and grievance hearings.
  • Facilitate counselling sessions
  • Dealing with and negotiating with trade unions and employee representatives as employer representative.
  • Handling wage disputes and negotiations.
  • Preparing and representing members with conciliation and arbitration matters at the CCMA and Statutory Council.
  • Restructuring and operational requirements and interventions including short time negotiations.
  • General counselling on various issues including substance abuse, incapacity and work performance issues.
  • Correspondence and information to members upon request.
  • Preparation of documentation for members.

Human Resources:

  • Drafting of policies and procedures for members
  • Conducting wage surveys
  • Writing job descriptions
  • Preparing performance evaluation programmes for members.
  • Assisting members with recruitment and selection
  • Colour perception testing
  • Facilitating psychometric and other ability tests

Training and Development:

  • Preparation and submission of WSP/ATR for members.
  • Assessing members training needs and proposing interventions to match these needs.

Employment Equity:

  • Preparation and submission of Employment Equity reports as required by DOL
  • Plan and compile EE plans for members.
  • Advise and consult on Employment Equity.
  • Structure and establish EE Committee for members
  • Prepare and facilitate EE meetings for members
  • Advise and consult on Employment Equity

Membership Services:

  • Visiting and liaising with members and prospective members of Printing SA.
  • Communicate and promote the membership value proposition to ensure sustainability and continued viability of Printing SA.
  • Assist with planning and organising functions including member forums, AGM's, monthly meetings not limited to:
  • Booking venues
- o Sending out invitations
- o Typing and distribution of minutes and agendas
- o Follow up on attendance and contacting members

  • Liaising with National Office and shared service on business matters.
  • Assist and man stalls at Exhibitions, EXPO's and career days

Special Requirements:
Capability to action high level directions. Ability to convert strategy into appropriate action. Regular and on time attendance. 24 Hour E-mail response.

Job Specification & Educational Requirements:

  • Minimal formal Qualifications:Tertiary qualification in HR / Labour law
  • Training: Qualified assessor, moderator and SDF will be an added advantage.
  • Experience: A minimum of 24 years working experience as a consultant in a labour relations environment. Previous experience with ATR / WSP submission and EE will be beneficial.
  • Legally required competence certificates: Code B Driver's licence.

Knowledge:
a good knowledge of labour legislation in SA, an understanding of training in South Africa - SETA's, NQF and SAQA

Skill:
strong negotiation skills, attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication, exceptional organisational skills, organised and methodical, ability to multitask

Attitude:
Self-discipline, ability to work without supervision, show initiative, self-starter, ability to work under pressure, high energy levels.

Salary:
Up to R351,920.00 per year
