Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive health, safety, and environmental policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and industry best practices.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify and mitigate potential health, safety, and environmental hazards.
  • Provide training and guidance to employees on health, safety, and environmental practices, ensuring that all staff are informed and competent in their responsibilities.
  • Investigate and report on all incidents, accidents, and near-misses, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with local environmental authorities and regulatory bodies to stay informed of relevant regulations and industry trends.
  • Develop and implement waste management and pollution control strategies to minimize the organization's environmental impact.
  • Facilitate the implementation of environmental management systems, such as ISO 14001, and ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Prepare and submit all required health, safety, and environmental reports and documentation to relevant authorities.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all health, safety, and environmental matters within the organization.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in environmental management, occupational health and safety, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Health, Safety, and Environmental Officer or a similar role, with a strong focus on environmental management.
  • Thorough understanding of relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation, regulations, and best practices.
  • Proficient in the use of risk assessment and management tools, as well as data analysis and reporting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with employees at all levels.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle, as travel to various sites may be required.
