Job Summary:
With their roots firmly in construction, this now diverse group has successfully moved into property development since the mid 2000's where they have delivered a variety of commercial project.
Although it acts independently, the development company is able to leverage considerable group resources and has also fully outsourced all project management.
By nature, development teams are small, as specialist skills provided by professionals in planning, design, costing and engineering.However, the developer still needs to pull all this information together, and be the person responsible for anticipating issues or bottlenecks in order to mitigate their effects or unblock them.
They are therefore looking for someone who has the ability to act as an oversight on projects from all possible angles, and who is able to achieve progress through ongoing relationship management.
To have the know-how to be successful in this kind of role, it is essential that you have been exposed to the full cycle of property development, and not just in one of its aspects.
Town planning, leasing, marketing, legal, debt financing and construction all fall to the developer at the end of the day, and you must be able to add value to each part of the process.
Reporting to the Development Director you will be expected to continuously investigate possible deals, with a particular emphasis on unpacking legal and financial obligations and risks.
You will also be handed several multi-million rand projects which will be coming out the ground this year and immediately take control of the professional teams, timelines and delivery.
As such, someone with a minimum of 5 yearsin development management, and a total working experience of
