Job Advert Summary:

PURPOSE:

  • Support the development of a technology roadmap that outlines key milestones, priorities, and timelines for technology implementation and development.
  • Coordinate activities related to the technology roadmap, annual business plan, budget, and monthly reporting.
  • Explore and evaluate emerging technologies relevant to the business value chain and mining industry, including core mining value chain technologies, automation, digital transformation, and solutions to improve mining productivity, safety, and climate resilience amongst key outcomes.
  • Support to identify potential partners, vendors, and research institutions for collaboration and technology integration.
  • Develop processes, standards and guidelines for technology evaluation, selection, and adoption.
  • Execute Exxaro's technology initiatives to enhance business processes, operational efficiency, and overall business productivity with a clear focus on value realisation.
  • Support to establish governance frameworks, principles, and guidelines for technology implementation, ensuring alignment with corporate policies and industry best practices.
  • Support to drive a culture of technology adoption throughout the organization by fostering a growth mindset and promoting awareness of the benefits of technology.
  • Support initiatives related to digital transformation, data analytics, automation, and other technologydriven solutions.

Minimum Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BSc Engineering (Essential/Minimum or)
  • B Eng (Relevant) (Essential/Minimum)
  • Management Development Programme (Essential/Minimum)
  • Masters of Engineering (Recommended/Desirable)

EXPERIENCE:

8-10 years Relevant operational experience within technology or digital transformation, preferably in the mining, heavy industry, or related sectors.

Excellent understanding of mining value chain technologies, including core mining value chain processes, digitalization, automation, data analytics, IoT, AI, and related solutions.

Exposure to partnership building and technology collaboration initiatives. Good communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Experience in developing standards and guidelines for technology processes. Exposure and understanding in developing and executing technology roadmaps. (Essential/Minimum) Operational

Duties & Responsibilities:

Functional Excellence

  • Support to develop and execute on a robust technology roadmap that balances the technology ambition against value and the limits of affordability.
  • Coordinate activities related to the technology roadmap, annual business plan, budget, and monthly reporting.
  • Continuously explore and evaluate emerging technologies relevant to the business value chain and mining industry.
  • Support to maintain a strong technology pipeline to execute on pipeline with the necessary collaborations and crossfunctional support
  • Develop and maintain functional policies, standards, guidelines, procedures, processes, etc. and enforce adherence to these.
  • Drive and execute functional excellence initiatives.
  • Host functional/crossfunctional forums, Communities of Practice (COPs) etc. to ensure functional alignment, knowledge building and enhance capability where appropriate.
  • Support to identify and manage critical functional risks through appropriate mitigation plans/actions.

  • Governance: Ensure function adheres to governance, policies, standards, statutory and legal compliance. Support to entrench a culture of discipline.

Functional Management

  • Performance management: Contribute to the functional strategic plan implementation through disciplined execution processes, track implementation and GM Technology.
  • Set and maintain high performance standards. Track and drive targets/goals. Report on obstacles that interfere with reaching objectives and manage own performance issues.
  • Support to create a culture of continuous improvement and change agility in function.
