A degree of equivalent in Supply Chain Management / Procurement
Successfully passed RE 5 (Representative Examination)
Computer literate (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook)
A minimum of 8 years related work experience in the Procurement and / or Supply Chain Management, preferably for a Short-Term Insurer, with specific emphasis on motor repair, replacement, motor salvage, motor glass, car hire and related services attached to motor policies
Relationship, organisational and strategic management skills, business acumen and accounting skills
Relevant work experience within the short-term insurance claims environment and an understanding of the environment within which insurers, underwriting managers, brokers and policyholders operate
Knowledge and understanding of current market trends within the industry, external factors that could impact the business as well as the response to these factors to financially safeguard the organisation
An understanding of the regulatory framework applicable to the short-term insurance industry and the motor industry
Sufficient knowledge of vetting providers in accordance with the criteria generally applies in the Short-term insurance industry
Specific to motor
Qualification in mechanical related studies or automotive body repair (advantageous)
Experience in all aspects involved in motor body repair and assessment
Experience in dealing with motor quoting systems (Abuntex / Audatex for example)
Auditing of final repair costings and quality of motor repairs
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to collaborate and network with multiple parties inside and outside the organisation
Confident decision making skills
Critical thinking /problem solving skills
Ability to persuade and influence decision makers
Strong Negotiation skills
Must have unwavering business ethics
Must have effective conflict management skills and the ability to handle difficult conversations

Understanding the organisations product offerings insofar as all short-term insurance products including motor, mechanical and engineering equipment is concerned
Possessing in-depth knowledge of relevant motor, mechanical and engineering offerings in the South African insurance market, how these operate trends and differentiators
Understanding the organisations needs and requirements insofar as procurement, supplier and service providers needs are concerned with regard to motor, mechanical and engineering equipment;
Identifying and vetting service providers and suppliers for the relevant goods and services required that meet the expectations of the organisation
Negotiate contracts and terms of services and pricing with suppliers and service providers
Monitoring and overseeing conduct of service providers and suppliers and taking corrective action where necessary
Monitoring and achieving a reduction in procurement spend, analysing internal and internal reporting
Preparing reports with detailed spend analysis for the organisations executive management
Developing and implementing operational measures to reduce motor and related claims costs
Working in symbiosis with the organisations procurement team
Assisting in identifying and implementing procurement solutions for brokers
