This job role will primarily involve:

  • CUSTOMER SERVICE, MARKETING & SCHEDULING

Interacting with customers for orders, inquiries, and pricing.

Daily management of fleet schedules in Port Elizabeth, George, and Eastern Cape.

Collaborating with the Head of Operations and Subcontractors department to assign loads.

Sending ETA reports and handling high-risk loads daily.

Conducting route inspections and recruiting new customers through planned marketing visits.

Researching potential new customers and visiting existing ones to maintain strong relationships.

Inspecting clients' distribution departments and facilities.

Regularly communicating with new and existing customers via phone.

Handling incidents like lost cargo, vehicle hijackings, accidents, and related claims with customers.

Conducting follow-up visits with customers.

Assisting in negotiations between clients and the company.


  • STAFF & ADMINISTRATION

Resolving outstanding disciplinary cases involving long-distance drivers and their associates.

Verifying and approving workshop vehicle mileage and diesel usage.

Coordinating workshop staff activities and monitoring staff overtime.

Reviewing daily clock times from the staff office.

Providing feedback to drivers on fuel consumption and trip details.

Enforcing discipline and conducting alcohol and drug tests for depot and workshop staff.


  • DEPOT FUNCTIONS

Supervising depot operations and staff to ensure high productivity and prevent delays.

Maintaining cleanliness of facilities including ablution areas on a daily basis.

Coordinating repairs and maintenance for depot buildings.

Ensuring firefighting equipment is serviced regularly.

Coordinating with Security to address any issues and maintain proper functioning.

Managing equipment usage and compliance with RTMS regulations.

Ensuring proper handling of parked vehicles and maintaining equipment.

  • Parking vehicles correctly and securing keys and diesel cards.
  • Ensuring vehicles are clean, equipped, and depart on time.
  • Inspecting and maintaining equipment on vehicles.

  • GENERAL

Overseeing inventory control for parts storage and purchases.

Arranging servicing of equipment like compressors, forklifts, etc.

Maintaining depot cleanliness and conducting daily fleet and trailer inspections.

Submitting daily tire reports and conducting regular after-hours depot checks.

Managing pallet arrivals to the Eastern Cape.
