POSITION PURPOSE
The primary responsibilities are to laminate layers of fibreglass on moulds.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Must be able to read and interpret drawings, use simple math, and use basic hand held measuring and electrical tools.
  • Use of simple arithmetic and ability to measure
  • Ability to understand and react to job schedules.
  • Good hand eye coordination.

NATURE & SCOPE
Reports directly to the Plant Supervisor and for responsible production related activities.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Bond wood or foam reinforcing strips to decks and cabin structures of watercraft, using resinsaturated fiberglass.
  • Check all dies, templates, and cutout patterns to be used in the manufacturing process to ensure that they conform to dimensional data, photographs, blueprints, samples, and/or customer specifications.
  • Check completed products for conformance to specifications and for defects by measuring with rulers by checking them visually, or by tapping them to detect bubbles or dead spots.
  • Cure materials by letting them set at room temperature, placing them under heat lamps, or baking them in ovens.
  • Cut and trim fibreglass to moulds.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Working conditions include manufacturing plant related environment. This is a physically active position which will require a large portion of the work day walking and standing. Occasional lifting up to 15kg with bending, stooping, and climbing required. Able to work at heights working from ladders up to 20 feet in height.

The noise level is usually high and hearing protection is required. Eye protection, gloves, hearing protection and safety shoes to be worn at all times. Plant safety practices including the ability to wear respirator and safety equipment will be required.

Individual will be working in an environment that includes occasional exposure to the elements, inclement weather, working in confined spaces, and heights.
