Job Purpose:


As a Tooling Manager, you will play a pivotal role in managing the specialised tools, moulds, jigs, and fixtures used in the construction of our vessels and vessel components.

Leveraging your expertise in boatbuilding and tooling management, including the ability to interpret technical/yacht design drawings, you will ensure the accuracy, consistency, and efficiency of our production processes.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the tooling department, including the maintenance, organisation, and inventory of specialised tools, molds, jigs, and fixtures.
  • Coordinate with design, engineering, and production teams to ensure that tooling meets the requirements of boatbuilding projects, including the ability to read and interpret technical/yacht design drawings.
  • Develop and implement procedures for the proper use, storage, and maintenance of tools and equipment.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate tooling solutions based on the type of boat being built, construction materials used, and production scale.
  • Train and supervise tooling staff, ensuring that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to procure highquality tooling materials and equipment.
  • Monitor tooling performance and identify opportunities for improvement in accuracy, consistency, and efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices in the use of tools and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of tooling inventory, usage, and maintenance activities.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to production teams as needed.

Desired Experience & Qualification:

  • Qualification in boatbuilding, engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of seven years of experience in boatbuilding, with a focus on tooling management.
  • Strong understanding of the different types of tooling used in boatbuilding, and in lamination and ideally in infusion and RTM (Resin Transfer Moulding)
  • Extensive experience in reading and interpreting technical/yacht design drawings.
  • Experience with CAD software and computeraided manufacturing (CAM) systems is advantageous.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with crossfunctional teams.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in the use of tools and equipment.
  • Strong problemsolving and decisionmaking abilities.
