Job Summary


To support the credit risk and pricing process through carrying out comprehensive and quality credit risk functions within the credit lifecycle to create shared growth within the boundaries of internal policies and external regulations.

Understand and manage risks and risk events relevant to the role. Responsible for developing pricing strategies by using data analysis.

In addition, responsible for developing monitoring and tracking management information (MI) of strategies and developing reports to highlight trends to management within the Portfolio.

Pricing Strategy and Analysis

  • Challenge existing pricing strategy by understanding the risk & reward opportunity and competitor levels and implement these strategies into production, by liaising with Information Technology (IT) within which pricing development, enhancements and management will be affected.
  • Provide pricing analysis and recommend future strategies, especially considering updated models and competitor activity.
  • Assist with the development of business cases and plans by providing input to the appropriate stakeholders with regards to the recommended pricing for new products.
  • Design, implement and monitor pricing champion/challenger tests and analyse the test results to better understand customer sensitivity in a manner that allows for the longterm strategy to be implemented.
  • Understand and analyse the effect of priceelasticity at a customer and product level.
  • This includes both variable and fixed rate pricing strategies of all sub products within the portfolio.
  • User acceptance testing for proposed implemented changes as well as post implementation monitoring.
  • Presentation of analytical results and proposals to both technical and nontechnical audiences, providing commentary as required.
  • Liaising with relevant stakeholders, including Sales, IT, Front end, Collections, Finance, and other Risk teams.
  • Sourcing, consolidating, and analysing large data sets, utilizing strong SAS skills, and identifying anomalies/trends.
  • Monitor pricing exceptions.
  • Identifying gaps in Pricing strategies as well as providing solutions to closing the gaps/streamlining processes.

Accountability:
MI and Communication

  • Produce and analyse monthly MI, to provide insightful commentary to support the data that details areas of potential concern and develop remedial action plans to address the issues.
  • Actively manage and improve the riskbased metrics reported.
  • Communicate analytical results to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Work together with cross functional teams, which may be geographically dispersed, to deliver risk initiatives.
  • Liaise with operational areas to ensure strategies are working optimally.
  • Ensure that all strategies comply with Absa credit risk policies and framework.

Role Specifications:
Education and Experience Required

  • B Degree in Business or Mathematics or Statistics or Operational Research or Industrial Engineering or Risk Management or similar.
  • 3 years' experience is required, in data analysis utilising a standard statistical package such as SAS and manipulation of very large data sets.
  • Advanced computer literacy especially the Microsoft Office suite of programs (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint).
