OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE ROLE


The primary responsibility is to ensure that the company's cash flow is maximised through debt collection and minimisation of risk.


Chain Store experience essential.

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance /Equivalent
  • 5 years' experience proven record as Credit Manager
  • Chain store experience

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Policies and Procedures

  • Ensure the Standard operating procedures manual (SOP) for the department is maintained, communicated to operational divisions and adhered to
  • Maintain Debtors data base by setting up term codes, Marking inactive customers, updating customer contact details, ensuring uniformity in customer naming conventions, linking customer accounts to account groups and confirming accuracy of beneficiary banking details
  • Full knowledge of the requirements in respect of National Credit Act, Consumer Protection Act, POPIA and IFRS 9.

Credit Application

  • Provide recommendations of approvals/nonapprovals to Finance Manager

Account Management

  • Monitor Customer performance against credit terms
  • Attend to customers as and when required to maintain relationship, resolve problems or respond to their queries.
  • Follow up on noncompliance resolve through direct interaction with Customers, Branch Managers and relevant departments
  • Advise on action to be taken with defaulters
  • Manage the processing and collection of intercompany receipt and payments
  • Provide weekly cash flow projections
  • Ensure that correct billing occurs and that all discrepancies and irregularities are analysed and rectified
  • Review and authorise credit notes and refunds to customers
  • Review and approve rebate calculations of accounts receivable clerks

Reporting

  • Prepare and submit monthly credit management reports to management
  • Monthly submission of statements to Customers
  • Monthly reconciliation of accounts receivable control accounts to the general Ledger
  • Provide for baddebts in line with SOP; and write off bad debts after consultation with the line manager

General Management

  • Set objectives for the accounts receivable team that align with the accounting department's goals
  • Support Accounts Receivable Clerks on a daily basis and train new team members
  • Provide development input and opportunities
  • Provide leadership and motivating environment
  • Encourage and recognise performance

  • Adhere to specified standards, policies, practices and procedures.
  • Use appropriate tools to conduct work, and ensure quality, accuracy and completeness thereof.
