Angling Shop Salesperson

Position Overview:

As an Angling Shop Salesperson, you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service and promoting the sale of fishing equipment, tackle, and related accessories.

Your primary objective will be to assist customers in selecting the right fishing gear for their needs, providing product information, and ensuring a positive buying experience.

You will also be responsible for achieving sales targets, maintaining an organized sales floor, and fostering strong customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Service:

  • Greet customers warmly and provide friendly, knowledgeable assistance throughout their visit.
  • Engage with customers to understand their fishing preferences, experience level, and specific needs.
  • Offer advice and guidance on selecting appropriate fishing equipment, tackle, and accessories.
  • Demonstrate the use and proper handling of fishing gear, including rods, reels, lines, lures, and baits.

Sales and Product Knowledge:

  • Proactively approach customers, promoting and selling fishing equipment, tackle, and accessories.
  • Maintain uptodate knowledge of fishing products, including different brands, models, features, and benefits.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, new product releases, and advancements in fishing technology.
  • Effectively communicate product information, warranties, and aftersales services to customers.

Merchandising and Inventory Management:

  • Ensure the sales floor is wellorganized, visually appealing, and stocked with a wide range of fishing equipment and accessories.
  • Regularly check inventory levels, restock merchandise, and notify management of low stock situations.
  • Collaborate with the store team to create attractive displays, promotions, and seasonal merchandising to drive sales.

Rigging and Technical Support:

  • Provide assistance and guidance in rigging fishing gear, including setting up rods, attaching lines, tying knots, and selecting appropriate lures or baits.
  • Offer technical support on various fishing techniques, casting methods, and tackle customization.
  • Share tips, advice, and local knowledge on fishing spots, regulations, and best practices.

Relationship Building:

  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships to encourage repeat business and referrals.
  • Follow up with customers to ensure their satisfaction, address any concerns, and provide ongoing assistance.
  • Utilize customer databases or CRM systems to capture customer information and preferences for personalized service and future marketing initiatives.

Store Operations and Policies:

  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
  • Operate the cash register accurately, process payments, and handle financial transactions.
  • Assist with inventory management, including receiving shipments, tagging products, and conducting regular stock checks.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Passion for fishing and extensive knowledge of angling techniques, equipment, and tackle.
  • Proven experience in a sales or customer service role, preferably in a retail environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a customerfocused approach.
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced environment, prioritize tasks, and handle multiple customers simultaneously.
  • Basic math skills for processing transactions, calculating discounts, and providing change.
  • Familiarity with pointofsale (POS) systems and inventory management software.
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, lift and carry fishing equipment, and perform rigging tasks.
  • Good knowledge of fresh and salt water fishing
