Primary Purpose of the Job

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide reactive and proactive support on the OAM/OMM network including, but not limited to:
  • Managing Windows Servers, i.e. checking event viewer for errors and resolving.
  • Maintain Department Profile software deployment within Group Policy.
  • Maintaining pfSense firewall and adding routes/services as required.
  • Network management, including setting up of new switches and monitoring as required for issues.


Managing Proxy servers
  • Squid.
  • Checking backups are running correctly and correct on errors. Run restores if required.
  • Creating new Access Control tags as requested by HR department.
  • Creation of extensions on Asterisk system
  • Provide 2nd line assistance to help desk technicians.
  • Log queries on company help desk ticket system.
  • Determine source of problem.
  • Resolve problem in person, via remote methods or by advising staff on appropriate actions in a timely manner.
  • Escalation of issues to the appropriate channel.
  • Document resolutions for future reference.
  • Implement company computer policy to ensure data security.
  • Updating of computer inventory and user database.
  • Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed by users whilst supporting them.
  • Be available, on a rota basis, to provide assistance out of hours to branches operating on different time zones.
  • Update FSRM rules at client sites via remote access software.
  • Other duties as assigned by the IT Manager.

Other duties:

  • Perform hardware and software installations.
  • Provide onthejob training to new department staff members.
  • Provide computer orientation to new company staff
  • Learn fundamental operations of commonly used software, hardware, and other equipment.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of assigned problems and resolve or escalate appropriately, in a timely manner. Ownership is from allocation to closure.
  • Manage allocated tickets to ensure regular updates are gathered, logged and the user involved informed.

Qualifications and experience required
Experience and skillset outweigh qualifications, but below would be advantageous together with experience:

  • Windows Server (AD environment) experience. MCSE 2003 or later.
  • Linux experience, using Centos distro.
  • CompTIA A+ or Network +

Salary:
R1.00 per month
