Minimum requirements for Junior Lecturer:

  • Registration with the HPCSA as an Emergency Care Practitioner (ECP)
  • A BTech or Bachelors degree in Emergency Medical Care or equivalent

Minimum requirements for Lecturer:

  • A Masters in Emergency Medical Care or equivalent Registration with the HPCSA as an Emergency Care Practitioner (ECP)
  • A minimum of 2 years clinical experience as an ECP
  • At least one year lecturing experience in higher education
  • A minimum of 2 years clinical experience as an ECP
  • At least two years lecturing experience in higher education
  • Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities
  • Contribute to the research, design, development & review of teaching & learning, curriculum development and institutional development policies
  • Develops learning material and course content to ensure continuity in relevance and maintenance of quality
  • Provide and facilitate teaching and learning and assessment
  • Engages in continuous academic development
  • Develop, contribute and produce and generate new knowledge through research outputs
  • Involvement in community engagement programmes
  • Participate in academic administration e.g. contribute to student admissions, timetabling, examinations
  • Carries out allocated tasks & projects with team members
  • Participate in quality assurance activities within the department.
  • Perform other functions as may be assigned to by the Head of Department.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the latest technology and development in the field of Emergency Medical Care
  • Excellent command of the English language and communication

  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work in a team as well as work independently
  • Strong learner focus and adaptability
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite
  • Good administrative skills
  • A quality orientated work ethic
