Our client is a leading real estate investment company who own and manage a large portfolio of commercial, industrial and retail assets throughout South Africa and abroad.

With an exciting opportunity available in their busy Johannesburg based team, they are currently seeking an experienced Risk & Compliance Manager to join the business.

Reporting directly to the Head of the division, you will take responsibility for ensuring that an adequate Enterprise Risk Management Framework is place, maintained and working effectively.

Further to this, you will also be tasked with providing quantitative analysis, advising the business on risk impact and opportunities, as well as providing assurance on the organisational health, regulatory compliance and internal control environment.

Some of your duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • Assist in the development and annual planning for ERM activities, budgets, and resources
  • Undertake a review of the groups ERM and Compliance Management Frameworks at regular intervals to ensure alignment with industry best practices
  • Facilitate risk assessments and quantification thereof across functional areas and maintain operational risk registers
  • Develop systems to facilitate risk monitoring and risk improvement by ensuring that the risk identification process is aligned with the Groups targets and objectives
  • Ensure that all risk categories are included in the risk assessment process, including the appropriate risk indicators on the risk registers, as well as the identification of relevant legal and regulatory compliance requirements
  • Consult on an ongoing basis with operational managers to ensure conformance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Identify potential areas of compliance risk, develop and implement corrective action plans for remediation
  • Maintain compliance risk management plans and monitoring thereof
  • Reporting to Management, and other stakeholders on risk, opportunities and compliance
To qualify for this position, you will need to have:

  • A relevant tertiary degree in Business Administration/Risk Management/Law or related fields
  • A Qualification in Mathematics and/or Statistics
  • Membership with the Institute of Risk Management
  • A minimum of 5 years managerial experience in an operational risk management environment
  • At least 5 years' experience in compliance and ethics, risk management, internal audit or other similar governance areas
  • Sound knowledge and experience of risk quantification methodologies and impact analysis
