Job description

We are seeking a junior R&D chemist and lab assistant to join our company and work with our technical and production team.

This role reports to the technical manager.

This is an excellent opportunity for a professional with relevant qualification and 2/3 years' experience to join an innovative, fast paced business and industry.

Salary is negotiable.

Responsibilities:

Responsible to work in laboratory and production environments.

Key responsibilities include:

Development sample preparation
Colour matching of bulk product
Stability/shelf-life testing and reporting
Laboratory housekeeping

Assisting with up-scaling of production batches: bulk adjustments

Supplier liaison:
raw material, sample and information requests
Formula costings
Formulating product according to brief
Loading formulation on system
Ensure raw material COA's and MSDS 's are saved and filed on the server
Generating PIF's (Product Information Files)

Assist with audit preparation:
ISO 9001:2015, SMETA 4 Pillar and GSV
Generating INCI's for finished products
Bulk approval and sign off
Preparation of samples, and supporting documents, to be sent for testing: challenge testing, micro testing and derma testing
Management and ordering of lab consumables
Management and recording retention samples and product standards
Ensuring all documents required for leaping bunny certification are recorded and filed appropriately.

REQUIREMENTS:

Requirements:

A diploma or degree in chemistry
2/3 years laboratory experience
Experience in personal care and cosmetic industry
Proficient in Microsoft Office packaging - Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
Personal skills
Hardworking, thorough, enthusiastic, energetic, eager to learn and progress within an exciting industry, flexible and innovative, a 'can-do' attitude.
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
Proven leadership skills and experience
Numerate and high level of computer literacy including MS Excel
Good decision making and problem-solving skills, proactive.
Good interpersonal skills
Good relationship management skills - clients, vendors, suppliers and co-workers, a team player
Ability to work well under deadline pressure.
