Skilled Carpenter

WE ARE HIRING
We are currently seeking a highly skilled Carpenter to join our team.

You will report to the Project Manager and work closely with the building team to construct, install, and repair structures and fixtures made of wood, plywood, wallboard, and laminate.

Structures include building frameworks, partitions, door and window frames, wooden stairways, rafters, and flooring.

You must know how to read and interpret blueprints, work with raw and finish materials, and have a good working knowledge of standard industry tools and equipment.

Many of our projects run through nights and weekends, so a flexible schedule is required.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

• Valid driver's license & own reliable transportation.
• Computer literate.
• Own cell phone.
• Carpentry qualification at a vocational school or carpentry apprenticeship preferred.
• Proven experience as a carpenter, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
• Strong knowledge of woodworking tools, machinery, and techniques.
• Good physical health, stamina, and dexterity for handling wood materials and operating machinery.
• Comply with all company and governmental safety guidelines.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1.

Interpretation of Blueprints and Specifications:

• Review and interpret detailed blueprints, drawings, and specifications for carpentry projects.
• Understand project requirements and ensure adherence to design specifications and dimensions.

Material Preparation and Cutting:

• Select and prepare appropriate wood materials for each project.
• Use woodworking machinery such as saws, planers, and routers to cut and shape wood components accurately.
• Ensure precise measurements and cuts to meet project specifications.

3.

Assembly and Joinery:

• Utilize various carpentry techniques for joinery, including mortise and tenon, dovetail, and biscuit joints.
• Assemble wood components using glue, screws, nails, or other fastening methods.
• Ensure structural integrity and stability of assembled products.

4.

Finishing and Detailing:

• Sand and smooth surfaces to achieve desired texture and appearance.
• Add decorative elements such as moldings, trim, or carvings to enhance aesthetics.

5.

Quality Control:

• Conduct thorough inspections of finished products to ensure they meet quality standards.
• Identify and rectify any defects or imperfections in craftsmanship.
• Maintain a high level of attention to detail throughout the production process.

6.

Maintenance of Tools and Equipment:

• Perform regular maintenance and upkeep of woodworking tools and equipment.
• Keep work areas clean and organized to ensure safe and efficient operations.
• Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to management.

7.

Team Collaboration:

• Collaborate with other carpenters, assemblers, and supervisors to coordinate workflow and achieve production goals.
• Communicate effectively with team members to troubleshoot problems and share best practices.
• Contribute to a positive and cooperative work environment.

Pay:
R12 000,00 - R15 000,00 per month
