Primary Purpose


To facilitate and monitor the adequate and effective management of operational risk throughout the organization as a second line of defense, including Business Continuity Management and Disaster Recovery in collaboration with IT.


Minimum Requirements
Qualification

  • B Com Degree or equivalent Degree in Accounting or Economics


 FAIS RE
  • Diploma or Regree in Risk Management (ideal)
Experience
years' people management experience

  • Up to 8 years' experience and understanding the entire trade & Forex process from product management of trade solutions, payment and forex, fulfillment and down to sales.

Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to

FINANCE
Cost control

  • Contribution of efficiency, cost saving and bottom line

CUSTOMER
Stakeholder relationship management

  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with members of all departments/business units within the organization.

INTERNAL PROCESSES
Business continuity and disaster recovery management

  • Facilitate planning and implementation of processes and practices for adequate business continuity and disaster recovery management;
  • Business continuity awareness/simulation, and oversee disaster recovery testing.
Principles of Sound Operational Risk Management

  • Facilitate the implementation and embedding of the Principles of Sound Operational Risk Management throughout the organization.
Key risk indicator framework

  • Establish, implement and maintain a key risk indicator framework for the organization.
Operational risk appetite and risk tolerance

  • Assist in recommending the overall risk appetite and risk tolerances for operational risk to the risk and capital management committee
Operational Risk Committee; Risk and Capital Management Committee; Operational Risk Forums

  • Chair bimonthly Operational Risk Committee meetings;
  • Conduct quarterly Risk Forum meetings with members of the Senior Management;
  • Preparation of input on Operational Risk to the Risk and Capital Management Committee;
  • Responsible for continuous improvement around reporting at these forums.
Risk register

  • Oversee the maintenance of the organisation's risk register;
  • Direct and oversee the ongoing risk assessment practices (including RCSA).
Coverage plan

(Risk reviews and assessments)

  • Preparation of an annual coverage plan for the Operational Risk team, focusing on the key themes/topics to be assessed as well as the scheduling of risk assessments for departments/business units.

This can include, but is not limited to:

  • Oversight over outsourcing risk management practices,
  • Controls surrounding the use of key spread sheets,
  • Review status of policies and procedures.
Contact with regulators Attendance of and participation at the following industry meeting groups:
Regulatory reporting

  • Preparation of the BA400, BA410, and BA421 on operational risk for submission to the SARB;
  • Preparation of the report on Material Outsourcing and Critical Third-Party Service Providers (directive 8.15).
  • Ensuring new regulatory reforms are implemented
  • Any other applicable adhoc requests from regulators
Other regulatory responsibilities

  • Managing and monitoring of user access on SAMEXWeb, SIRESSWeb, and Trustlink Prod.
Reporting

  • Input for reporting to the Risk and Capital Management Committee.
Ad-hoc risk reviews/assignments

  • Manage or complete adhoc assignments/risk reviews according to stakeholder expectations.
Direct reports - Develop and manage direct reports (Operational Risk Analysts), and supervise their deliverables.
