JOB DESCRIPTION


The overall purpose of this position is to perform a full
Management function and to control a fleet of company vehicles i.e.

Mercedes trucks. Asset and fleet management and logístical control is a key function of this role.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee / control the maintenance and services of company trucks
  • Control of mechanical workshop and technical staff.
  • Maintain and control fleet register and asset control.
  • Investigations and control over vehicle accidents, relevant repairs claim etc.
  • Adhere to all requirements as specified in the company transport policies and procedure manual.
  • Manage Capex and asset requirements.
  • Attending Daily / Weekly meeting with Senior Management.
  • Arranging testing of drivers, licences and PDPS.
  • Receiving of invoices and ensuring that the necessary authorisation is obtained.
  • Manage and maintain the fuel and maintenance budgets for the fleet.
  • Management and control of purchases via the procurement policy and service providers compliance.
  • Coordinate strict control of vehicle services, parts and stock control.
  • Ensure service delivery from approved and adhoc suppliers.
  • Assisting in the recruitment of quality drivers into the fleet.
  • Developing efficient driver schedules to maximize profits.
  • Managing drivers so they adhere to strict schedules.
  • Finding ways to cut costs and maximize profits.
  • Developing strategies for greater delivery efficiency.
  • Maintaining detailed records of drivers, vehicles and inspections.
  • Complying with South African Department of Transport laws and regulations.
  • Scheduling regular vehicle maintenance to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Ensuring strict servicing and maintenance times to minimize downtime and maintain schedules.
  • Monitoring driver behaviour and ensuring a high level of customer service.
  • Analysing data to increase business operational efficiency.
  • Utilising GPS systems to monitor drivers and track vehicles in case of theft

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Relevant Qualification / Degree in Logistics
  • Min 5 years' experience and full knowledge of large fleet vehicle management.
  • Extensive Mechanical and hydraulics knowledge and experience
  • Working knowledge of the SAP system.
  • Proficiency in MS Word.
  • Above average Excel proficiency is essential.
  • Strong administration and organizational skills.
  • Numerical accuracy and high methodical working methods are required.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to liaise professionally with clients and personnel at all levels.
  • Ability to work without supervision, under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to work extended hours.
  • Above average mechanical knowledge and experience.
  • Adequate business writing skills
  • Good understanding of Road worthy's COF's and traffic fine management.
  • Thorough knowledge of Capex procedures.
  • Code 8 unendorsed drivers' licence

Salary:
From R25,000.00 per month
