An exciting yet dynamic job opportunity has become available within the Operations and Logistics Department at our head office in Sybrand Park, Cape Town.


The Amy Foundation is a non-profit organisation (NGO) that offers various programmes to develop and empower youth, ages 5-35, reaching over 1600 youth everyday living in challenged and vulnerable communities within the Western Cape.


We are recruiting for an experienced, passionate, flexible, and driven individual to occupy the
Driver position within a fast pace and dynamic working environment.

The role will report directly to the Operations Manager.

Specific duties and responsibility include, but not limited to:

  • Always obey all traffic laws.
  • Ensure daily completion and updating of vehicle log sheets of areas travelled to, and items collected or delivered. Complete delivery and collections file daily.
  • Safely transporting staff, volunteers, and learners as well as various products and materials to and from specified locations in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that the vehicles have sufficient petrol/diesel daily and are always ready to use.
  • Ensure that vehicles are not overloaded.
  • Assisting with the loading and offloading of, products, and materials.
  • Adjusting travel routes to avoid traffic congestion or road construction.
  • Promptly informing the Logistics Cocoordinator of any traffic tickets issued against the company vehicle during work hours.
  • Ensuring that the company vehicle is always parked in areas that permit parking in order to avoid towing.
  • Keeping the company vehicle clean and properly maintained by performing regular washing, cleaning, and vehicle maintenance by checking tires, lights, mirrors, brakes, bodywork, interior, seatbelts, etc. twice a week.
  • Sanitize vehicles once a week.
  • Report any accidents, injuries, and vehicle damage to Logistics Cocoordinator.
  • Use route navigation apps and knowledge of area to deliver packages to customers on time.
  • Interact with donors' beneficiaries etc. in a professional manner.
  • Work occasional evenings and weekends when required.
  • Complete daily maintenance checks on delivery vehicles and notify Logistics Cocoordinator of any issues.
  • Notify the Logistics Cocoordinator if there are any route deviations.
  • Perform some other undertakings like shopping, dropping and picking clothing, laundry delivery & collections getting lunch, running errands.
  • Ad hoc maintenance duties: cleaning in and around the building, repairs and painting etc.

Minimum requirements:

  • Matric.
  • Clear Criminal record
  • Essential.
  • Must have a valid Code 10/EC1 drivers' license and PDP
  • Essential.
  • Sound knowledge of road safety regulations.
  • Working knowledge of local roads and routes.
  • The ability to utilize maps, GPS systems, and car manuals.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Punctual and reliable.

Basic Salary

  • Dependent on experience.

Hours of Work

  • Mon-Thur 08h30 to 16h30 and Friday 08h30 to 14h00
Please note overtime will be required as needed.
