Job Summary


Our Digital Architecture Team provides a critical service to our Retail and Business Banking business teams on our Online Banking systems, delivering solution architectures that drive us towards our strategic destinations while enabling rapid delivery of current asks that are innovative, exciting, and satisfying to work on.


As a Digital solution architect, you will drive and own the delivery of resilient, secure and scalable solution architectures in the Digital domain, become your squad, Product Owner and business unit's trusted technology advisor, and be involved in delivering key strategic deliverables that help keep us at the top of the ranking scales with our Digital channels.


Job Description:

What you'll get to do:
The role is within the Digital SA Architecture team and your responsibilities will include the following:

  • Determine which projects will require architectural input
  • Define explicit architectural deliverables to the project during early engagement
  • Incorporate risk, security, governance and regulatory requirements into solution designs in consultation with the relevant teams in the organisation
  • Translate requirements into solution architectures from the ground up
  • Demonstrate ability to work as an integral member of the project/programme team(s) to ensure proper deployment of the solution architecture
  • Work with the business and development team(s) to ensure a solid, scalable and secure solution architecture that meets the requirements of the project, business direction and cost models
  • Leverage expertise in analytical & creative problem solving to guide the development of a solution design
  • Collaborate with others to design and deliver holistic solutions
  • Work with a range of complex banking systems
  • Work with cloud platforms
  • Work with complex infrastructure
  • Provide guidance on requirements for technical teams and be willing to clarify them in technical terms to developers, other architects and infrastructure people
  • Work on a range of Agile projects
  • Identify solution risks and articulate the risks to business and technology teams
  • Work with governance people
  • Provide Pen Testing recommendations to Product Owners, Technical Owners and the project delivery team
  • Provide thought leadership

What you need to get in:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Solution Architect role
  • Ideally, you'll have worked on some large complex technical projects
  • Bonus points for Financial Services or Bank experience
  • Degree or diploma in IT or Technology and/or have some relevant certifications would be an advantage
  • Be willing to contribute to the architecture patterns and standards within the Digital domain
  • Be able to master a complex and dynamic technical environment
  • Have a flair for operating on many diverse technical projects simultaneously
  • Be adept at working with highly skilled technical people
  • Be able to negotiate and motivate for a clear architectural direction to achieve the required outcomes
  • Aptitude for dealing with organisational change
  • Maintain compliance with governance requirements
  • Be an advocate for sound architectural practices at all levels in the organisation
  • Be able to communicate complex technical solution designs to varied audiences of technical and nontechnical natures
  • Be able to research and figure things out
