Lesedi, as a design and project management company, is highly tender driven and therefore constantly estimating costs for the purposes of submitting competitive bids for new work.


The
Estimator provides support to the proposal function through estimating of engineering, supply, construction and associated costs, performing budget estimates and assisting with selection of the most appropriate procurement strategy for subcontractors and suppliers.

The role involvement is from tender inception up to tender awarding.

Qualifications:

  • Degree/Diploma in Construction Management/Building Science/Engineering.
  • Certified Cost Engineer (CCE), Certified Estimating Professional (CEP)
    OR equivalent qualification
    OR will have sufficient knowledge and experience to work towards obtaining such certification.

Experience:

years post qualification related practical experience.

Tasks:

  • Estimates and pricing schedules for tender submissions crossreferenced with the IFF, WBS and Activity Schedules.
  • Planning and managing set estimating task/activities.
  • Responsible for the development of all capital estimates.
  • Review and confirmation of scope of work and battery limits.
  • Interact, coordination and assessment of discipline engineering, procurement and planning input for estimate development.
  • Perform project cost forecast and cash flow to determine escalation calculations/CPA, bond costs.
Prepare estimates and pricing for client requests or quotations.

  • Provide post tender commercial analysis.
  • Develop and maintain database of rates.
  • Review and update existing cost benchmarking database.
  • Rates database, cost models and benchmarking exercises to support tender pricing, quotations and tender pricing analysis.
  • Liaison with design engineers to ensure scope is correctly identified in the cost model.
  • Liaison with planners for matching of cost model and WBS.
  • Liaison with procurement in obtaining cost information from the market place.
  • Attend and partake in post tender review meetings.
  • Support Cost Engineer and Quantity Surveyors on an adhoc basis.
  • Prepare and submit selfassessments to line manager for performance management reviews.
  • Expedite information from team members.

Knowledge:

  • Must have good written and oral communication skills with superiors, peers, subordinates and contractors/clients.
  • Good knowledge of estimating processes.
  • Must have good analytical abilities.
  • High compliance with the Lesedi Quality Management System and company rules and regulations.
  • Must have good procedure implementation & development skills.

Skills:

  • Must have a sound working knowledge of construction estimating software.
  • Sound ability to accurately read, analyse and interpret construction/engineering drawings & blueprints.
  • Ability to perform material / quantity takeoffs from drawings.
