ROLE DESCRIPTION


Provides a dynamic network and motivation to work with suppliers and the production team that drives proactive sourcing and supply chain management.

Focused on cost saving initiatives aimed at maximizing company profit while maintaining a high quality product and _JIT_ service.

KEY PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

A.

Commercial**:

  • Efficiently order materials/services with the objective of meeting quality standards, on time delivery and reducing input costs.
  • Monitoring GP of each Job by purchasing materials/services below budget across all categories
  • Think creatively and be forthcoming with proposals to reduce costs and increase efficiency without compromising on quality & structural integrity.
  • Changes to material specification to be approved.

B.

Planning / Logistics**:

  • Plan supplier deliveries based on production requirements with accurate feedback on timings.
  • Responsibility to follow up with suppliers on a daily basis to ensure deliveries are on track.
  • Build and maintain sound relationships with the production HOD's and suppliers to streamline communication and increase efficiency.

C

Supply chain:

  • To have impeccable understanding of material costs, availability and processes across the supply chain, with key focus on the commodity suppliers.
  • To seek out new suppliers with the intention of improving the Barrows supply chain.
  • To manage supplier performance and coordinate supplier reviews (in conjunction with the Procurement HOD).

D

Strategic:

  • Assists in the implementation of the procurement strategy, understanding rebates, supplier contracts and service level agreements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED**:

Diploma in Purchasing and Supply Chain management OR the equivalent.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

A minimum of 3-5 years' experience in Procurement (buying and costing).

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proactive and energetic.
  • Problem solving abilities.
  • Able to work in an ever changing and fastpaced environment.
  • Work as a team member or on your own to meet deadlines.
  • Strong financial analysis skills.
  • Report writing, process reports.
  • Motivation self motivation as well as the motivation of others.
