Senior Consultant (Microsoft Cloud)


Main purpose of the role The Senior Microsoft Consultant will be expected to be able to work autonomously, under broad direction, and is fully responsible for meeting allocated technical objectives.

In addition, they are expected to be able to design plan and execute work in a timely fashion.


The Senior Consultant is expected to be able to lead conversations with clients in their area of specialism, navigating them on the benefits of those solutions and identifying areas of risk and relevant mitigating controls.

Types of work include assessments, workshops, reviews, technical designs and deployment of security controls within their area of expertise.

The Senior Consultant is expected to continuously develop their technical knowledge, as defined in the Performance Management Plan.

The Senior Consultant is expected to abide by ISC2 code of ethics, whether challenged internally or externally and to raise any concerns of conflict with their line manager.


The Senior Consultant is expected to provide mentoring to junior members of the team, whilst working towards skills expected of an architect, namely Influence, Inspire and Set Strategy.

The Senior Consultant is expected to be highly skilled, work on and deliver projects within two of the following three spheres:

  • Microsoft 36
5 security

  • Azure
Security

  • Sentinel Design and deployment
  • Amazon Web Services security
As well as advanced skills and the relevant credentials in:

  • Microsoft 36
  • Azure
Reports to the Head of Microsoft Consulting

Required minimum education and work experience

Good knowledge of the following:

  • Traditional Active Directory
  • Azure
Active Directory

  • General security principles (strong in at least 3 of the CISSP domains)
Strong knowledge of at least 3 of the following:

  • Microsoft Defender (for Office, for Endpoint, for Cloud, for Identity)
  • Microsoft Entra
  • Microsoft 36
5 security controls

  • Microsoft Azure security controls
  • Microsoft Sentinel
  • Information Security diploma or degree advantageous.
  • ISC2 certification
  • SC 100, SC 200, SC 300, SC 400
  • AZ 500, AZ104, AZ300
  • MS 100, MS 10
  • Experience of working with SME's
  • Microsoft Azure Sentinel experience
  • 5+ years' work experience in IT security environment
  • 5+ years' proven experience in the product to be supported
  • Experience in client facing environments

Experience:

  • Microsoft 36
5 security: 5 years (required)

  • Microsoft Defender (Office/Endpoint/Cloud/Identity): 5 years (preferred)
  • Microsoft Azure security: 5 years (preferred)
Microsoft Sentinel: 5 years (preferred)
