The client is looking for a Store Manager to manage multiple stores in Durban. The manager's role is to ensure the achievement of sales and profit objectives, maintain service and operational standards, and be responsible for managing, motivating, and engaging staff.

  • Accountabilities:
  • Sales
  • Manage sales plan for the store and set individual targets according to hours worked.
  • Drive sales by asking questions and making appropriate product recommendations.
  • Monitor sales daily and find solutions when sales decline.
  • Meet regularly with the Site/Area Manager to review sales and operational objectives.
  • Ensure staff have up-to-date information about procedures, sales, and return policies.
  • Authorise discounts with discretion.

People Management & Development:

  • Produce and manage work schedules to optimally staff the store during peak trading times.
  • Organise and oversee staff and casual training following company policies.
  • Engage in networking activities to build a pool of potential Sales Consultant candidates.
  • Assist with recruitment, training, and development of Sales Consultants.
  • Conduct regular meetings with staff to provide feedback on sales targets and address sales.
  • Monitor sales and motivate staff to meet targets.
  • Deal with disciplinary issues and provide feedback to staff.
  • Develop, motivate, and lead staff ensuring teamwork and positive morale.
  • Manage staff performance to meet KPIs and conduct performance appraisals.
  • Ensure staff are trained in processing warranties correctly.
  • Create training plans and facilitate staff training including onboarding.

Customer Service:

  • Demonstrate exceptional customer service and coach the sales team to do the same.
  • Respond to customer queries and complaints promptly.
  • Build customer relationships to encourage repeat business.
  • Assess frames and warranty procedures for repairs, keeping customers informed.
  • Stay informed about fashion and retail trends to enhance the customer experience.
  • Respond to customer complaints effectively and professionally.

Stock Control:

  • Maintain inventory control and secure all merchandise.
  • Plan, implement, and monitor stock takes.
  • Handle stock discrepancies or investigations as advised.
  • Conduct daily stock counts with shift changes.
  • Minimize stock loss following company procedures.
  • Manage shrinkage levels within targeted ratio.
  • Ensure timely processing of returns and IBTs.

Store Operations:

  • Manage store and stock presentation to standards.
  • Perform visual merchandising.
  • Follow product and assortment guidelines.
  • Set up campaigns.
  • Maintain store appearance and cleanliness.
  • Ensure good housekeeping both inside and outside the store.
  • Verify daily cash-up procedures and oversee store finances.
  • Perform daily cash reconciliation checks.

Requirements:

  • Essential: Matric certificate
  • Preferred: Tertiary retail management or commerce qualification
  • Essential:
  • Previous experience in retail or customer service.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets.
  • Preferred: 2+ years retail management experience.
  • Requirements:
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must have own vehicle.
