Role Purpose


Provide the strategic direction for the development and execution of the Momentum Investments business unit in line with the MMH Group's strategic objectives.


Requirements:

Minimum qualifications:

  • Post graduate degree (or similar)
  • Ideally qualified CA/Actuary or MBA

Minimum Experience:

years' experience within the financial services industry, ideally in the Investments industry

  • 8 years' experience in leading Executive leadership teams as a senior executive.
  • Experience in big transformational business projects would be ideal.
  • Experience in integrating a complex operating model to work as a holistic whole, Momentum Investments.
  • Knowledge and experience in running and overseeing the following capabilities:
Retail Investments Platform

  • Retail Distribution with a solid understanding of Financial Advisers, their challenges and how to get the best from them.
  • Multi-Manager
  • Single-Manager
  • Starting up a successful Fund Manager
  • Global Asset Manager
  • Experience in big transformational business projects.
  • Experience in understanding how to get the best from Investment professionals, keeping them engaged and retaining them.

Duties & Responsibilities

Drive the strategic direction and operating model of Momentum Investments

  • Define vision and strategy for the Momentum Investments business unit and develop an aligned value chain in relation to the organisation's mandate.
  • Lead the design and development of an optimal and fit for purpose operating model that ensures that the Group is supported by the appropriate investment capabilities.
  • Collaborate closely with other business units across MMH to design solutions and offer clients what they need to be financially well.
  • Play a lead role to collaborate with, and influence the strategic direction of the MMH Group distribution and advice channels, such as MDS, MFP and Consult. Continuous delivery on sales targets and devising strategies to reach these targets.
  • Plan for and ensure achievement of business results in accordance with longterm strategic objectives. Identify challenges that prohibit achievement of objectives and play a role to facilitate that these are overcome.
  • Provide the thought leadership for the creation, implementation and maintenance of investment capabilities, products and solutions in order to diversify product offering and profitability for the business unit but also for the Group.
  • Drive the optimisation in how the Momentum Investments business unit operates, in order to eliminate inefficiencies and streamline operations. This might in future entail a complete rethink of cost structures and the operating model to ensure increased efficiency and future profitability in a market with limited growth.

Stakeholder engagement and Momentum Investments Ambassador

  • Stay abreast of what is happening within the Investment industry and what competitors are doing. Development of strategies and tactics that maintain and positions Momentum Investments as a leader in the industry.
  • Contribute to sustaining a competitive edge through external networking and benchmarking and representation on related forums.
  • Be the brand ambassador for Momentum Investments within and outside of the Group.
  • Lead and provide the strategic direction for engagements with critical or influential stakeholders and strategic partners in order to effectively position Momentum Investments as well as MMH.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage off strategic relationships and alliances to build new investment opportunities or build on existing capabilities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders that promote cross delivery practice solutions that will benefit the Group.
  • Play a strategic role as representative of Momentum Investments and MMH Group on specific ASISA committees, Boards and Workgroups
  • Specific focus on media relations and driving an active media presence as a thoughtleader in the Personal Finance arena.

Legislative responsibility

  • Drive the continuous compliance to organisational policies, practices and procedures in order to ensure compliance to relevant legislations and statutory regulations.
  • Implement risk management, governance and compliance policies in own practice area, to identify and manage governance and risk exposure liability.
