Role positioning and purpose:


The COO shall have the primary responsibility of leading the day-to-day operations of the business of the Group and its subsidiaries in accordance with the strategic plan and operating and capital budgets.

The COO reports to the Group's Chief Executive Officer ("CEO").

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and strategic vision to the organization and implement operational controls
  • Effectively communicate and foster growth among the executive team and all employees
  • Prepare an annual operating plan that supports the Corporation's longterm operations strategy in collaboration with CEO and CFO;
  • Develop and oversee longterm business strategies of the Corporation in collaboration with CEO and CFO.
  • Monitor the Group's achievement and maintenance of a satisfactory competitive position within its industry.
  • Keep the CEO fully informed in a timely and candid manner of the conduct of the daytoday operations of the Organization towards the achievement of its established goals and of all material deviations from the goals or objectives and policies established by the Board.
  • Ensure communications, resolution of issues, and project development with respect to operational matters,
  • Ensure the development of health and safety practices for the Organization and oversee compliance with those practices;
  • Board and Committees presentations
  • Foster a corporate culture that promotes ethical practices, customer focus, and service and encourages individual integrity;
- maintain a positive and ethical work climate that is conducive to attracting, retaining, and motivating a diverse group of top-quality employees at all levels;

  • Coordinate the sustainability strategies of the Corporation.
  • Assess and manage the principal risks of the organization's business within operations (proposals, projects, and staffing);
  • Be responsible for Business Development, and process for onboarding new projects.
  • Performance Management, management of contracts for outsourced services
  • Perform other functions related to the office of the COO or as may be requested by the CEO or the Board

Qualification and experience:

  • BSc Qualification
  • Master's in business administration (preferable)
  • Management Development Programme (optional)
  • 5+ years senior management experience

Competencies:

  • Ability to communicate and interact with officials at all levels of government and to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Ability to motivate teams and simultaneously manage several projects.
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure.
  • Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to develop and deliver presentations.
  • Knowledge of contracting, negotiating, and change management.
  • Ability to examine and reengineer operations and procedures.
  • Ability to work under pressure.

Job Types:

Salary:
From R50,000.00 per month
