Requirements:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification, preferably a four (4) year tertiary
diploma n Fire Technology/National Diploma in Fire Technology

or Bachelor Degree in Fire Technology

  • Twelve (12) years relevant managerial experience commensurate
with the requirements of the position

  • Thorough understanding of managerial and public administration
processes and principles

  • Computer Literacy
  • A valid driver's license
  • No criminal record
Key Performance Areas

  • Manage, lead, coordinate and monitor firefighting and rescue
operations within the Operations and Auxiliary Services.

  • Lead and direct the development, implementation and
management of strategies, policies training and procedures of

the Section.

  • Directs, controls and manage Human Capital and the key
performance indicators and outcomes of staff within the Section.

  • Manage, monitor and control budgets (capital and operating) for
the Department.

  • Directs the implementation of specific procedures, systems and
controls associated with key functional areas embodied in the

Department Business Plan.

  • Manage and control Occupational Health and safety legislation
within the Department.

  • Manages the use of technology in the Department.
  • Performs functions in an Acting capacity in the absence of the
Chief Fire Officer to ensure continuity in the management of the

Fire Services Department.

  • Manage training and skills development and the transfer of skills
and knowledge in the Section.
