Our client is looking for a Data Protection/Information Security Officer to join their team.


The Director Data Protection & Compliance Programs is responsible to ensure departments in SSA Countries adhere to the company's Data Protection/Privacy standards and to the IT Infrastructure and Service Management standards, i.e.

Information Security.
Compliance will be achieved via regular reporting and by driving regional programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Build close working relationships with country IT organization to ensure that each country's IT needs and issues are understood.
  • Provide regular and timely reports to senior business stakeholders concerning data protection, as well as compliance to IT infrastructure and service management standards across the Region.
  • Ensures regional adherence to the company's Data Protection / Privacy requirements.
  • Build and execute a data protection roadmap in a practical manner that enables the company to achieve compliance with data protection regulations
  • Prepare for and Respond to Audits
  • Implement Data Protection Processes & Tools
  • Manage escalations within the Region and taking the lead to bring these up to the Global Express organization and Corporate Data Protection.
  • Ensure information Security management standards and best practices are implemented and adhered to across the SSA Countries, via regular KPI reporting and followups.
  • Coordinate with country external legal Councils and internal the company's stakeholders to ensure compliance with local Data Protection Regulatory requirements
  • Monitor overall progress and initiate corrective action

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years Program Management
  • 5+ years crossfunctional stakeholder management with proven track record
  • Advanced University Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration and a related legal background

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Johannesburg, Gauteng: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)

Education:

  • Bachelors (required)

Experience:

Program Management: 5 years (required)
