Shift Manager

Manages the safe production of quality explosives products to a specified shift target.

  • Manages effective formal shift handovers.
  • Reports and gives account of all required production measures.
  • Manages the OTIF supply of all raw materials and consumables to the respective machines.
  • Manages the OTIF packing and storage of final products.
  • Plans work according to prioritisation received from Planning.
  • Manages the effectiveness of all manufacturing systems.
  • Resolves internal Customer complaints on shift.
  • Responsible for all quality, safety, health and environmental incidents on shift in designated area.
  • Ensures consistent adherence to all standards across all IS operations on a Shift.
  • Ensures that subordinates have the authority, tools and information required to do their jobs
  • Gives his time and support to team members consistently
  • Sets clear goals and standards for subordinates
  • Holds people accountable for their efforts and contribution and applies the necessary recognition and reward or discipline and censure
  • Ensures that all team members understand and support the business strategy and goals, and its financial results

General

  • Technical knowledge (from practical experience) of specific machines in area.
  • Working knowledge of SHE requirements in respect of an explosives manufacturing environment.
  • Operational problem solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing systems.
  • Leadership and team building skills.
  • Computer literacy.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Matric/Grade 1
  • A minimum qualification of a
    Production /
    Management Diploma:

  • 5 years relevant experience in a manufacturing or production environment
  • A technical orientation would be advantageous.
