  • SUMMARY


This position is responsible for assisting in the management of the overall performance of and procedures involved in the review of outside counsel guidelines, engagement letters, billing agreements, and other forms of client arrangements, including questionaires.

The Conflicts Supervisor will work closely with senior management of the New Business Conflicts and Compliance department, to include reporting to the Conflicts Client Engagement Manager, General Counsel's office, Legal Ethics committee, firm attorneys and other levels of firm administration to facilitate resolution of conflicts of interest, business sensitivity and client engagement issues.


The Conflicts Client Engagement Letter Manager will also work with the firm's General Counsel, Legal Ethics Committee, Finance Department, firm lawyers, and other levels of firm administration in evaluating contracts and faciliatating the completion of client agreements and questionaires.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Management of team consisting of a Supervisor, Coordinator, Client Engagement Attorneys, Client Engagement Specialists and Client Information Specialists to identify and facilitate resolution of conflicts of interest issues, client engagement terms and client questionaires, as necessitated by the firm's global strategy and objectives;
  • Provide direct oversight of the supervision, coordination, and monitoring of agreements received by the team and the progress of review as it relates to all modified client engagement letters, outside counsel guidelines and other nonstandard contracts;
  • Monitor communications between various departments used to gather, analyze, and distribute contractual requirements associated with the various forms of client agreements;
  • Provide direct oversight of supervision and maintenance of repository (Intapp Terms) for current and historical client contracts provisions and billing terms;
  • Monitor designated mailboxes to ensure queries are prioritized and distributed;
  • Monitor guidance from the General Counsel's office as it related to the creation of responses end ensure instructions are consistent with Hogan Lovells business practices;
  • Faciliate staff in providing and maintaining the necessary responses to client questionaires to ensure that appropriate information requested by clients is provided promptly and consistently;
  • Consult with senior management of the New Business Conflicts & Compliance department and members of the General Counsel's office, Legal Ethics committee, Lateral Partner Recruitment & Integration team, and others in firm management, to receive guidance on the identification and resolution of conflicts of interest and business sensitivity issues;
  • Assist the Conflicts Director by providing oversight on and ensuring timely implementation of screens/firewalls when required for new firm matters;
  • Assist the Conflicts DIrector in connection with the assessment of and improvement to existing and new conflicts and compliance related technologies, including development, testing, and implementation; and
  • Assist with other duties and projects as may be assigned.

MANAGER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage with the Conflicts Director
  • Supervisor, Coordinator, Client Engagement Attorneys, Client Engagement Specialists and Client Information Specialists processing client engagement terms and questionaires, including identifying and facilitating resolution of conflict of interest issues, and other administrative assignments concerning the Engagement Letter/Contracts Review division, as assigned;
  • Provide direct oversight re supervision team assignments and monitor the progress and quality of work product generated by reporting team members;
  • Assess the needs of and continue to develop all reporting team members through ongoing mentoring and training;
  • Review and approve time sheets submitted by reporting team members;
  • Enforce and ensure reporting team members' compliance with Hogan Lovells policies; and
  • Prepare with the Conflicts Director annual performance evaluations of reporting team members.
  • QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED SKILLS
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree required. JD desirable

  • HOURS
Core hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (includes lunch hour). Must be flexible to work additional hours.
