The South African College of Applied Psychology (SACAP) is the leading independent provider of education in psychology, counselling and coaching, offering accredited undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications.

SACAP is looking for a Student Life and Leadership Manager based at the Johannesburg Campus.

In this position, the primary focus will be on strategically driving the institutional Student Life and Leadership Centre.

The centre's objective is to offer a comprehensive range of services that foster student life experience and promote opportunities for student leadership.


The Student Life and Leadership Manager will play a crucial role in nationally expanding, developing, and supporting the campus student leadership bodies and engagement opportunities.

They will also be responsible for ensuring the implementation of quality assurance processes and metrics related to these activities. The manager will actively promote student engagement across the institution and collaborate closely with other Student Support Centres.

This role will also support the broader Johannesburg Student Support team at a personal and broader team level. The role will proactively engage the campus leadership teams on operational challenges and solutions.

Responsibilities:

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Developing and implementing strategic planning for the Student Life and Leadership Centre, aligning it with the overall goals of SACAP
  • Providing a full range of national student life services and opportunities
  • Fostering and supporting student leadership development initiative across campuses
  • Establishing and implementing quality assurance processes and metrics to assess the effectiveness of student life and leadership programs. Continuously monitoring and evaluating the impact of these programs, adjusting as necessary to improve outcomes
  • Collaborating with other Student Support Centres, academic departments, and administrative units to ensure cohesive and integrated support services for students. Sharing best practices and collaborate on initiatives that enhance the student experience and promote student success
  • Driving SACAP's bursary and scholarship scheme and relevant processes
  • Driving student engagement across the institution by creating opportunities for students to connect with one another, engage in extracurricular activities, and participate in campuswide events. Promote a sense of community and belonging among students
  • Ensuring alignment, development and support for Student Support Centres on the Johannesburg campus

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A minimum of a degree qualification in the discipline of Counselling, Psychology or Coaching
  • Advanced computer literacy skills, including online systems
  • 2 years of fulltime management experience, preferably within the field of Student Life and Leadership
  • Knowledgeable and passionate about SACAP and its offerings and student experience
  • Highly developed relationship building / interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills

This role reports directly to the Registrar and the Johannesburg Head of Campus and will work closely and collaboratively with the broader national student support and development teams.


Operating Hours:

  • This is a fulltime position operating from Mondays to Fridays with the following hours*_:
Mondays to Thursdays: 08:00am to 16:30pm

Fridays: 08:00am to 16:00pm
