**What will you do?**
- The role is responsible for managing the life insurance first line actuarial function across various countries in the SanlamAllianz Africa portfolio. Specifically, this means taking responsible for the actuarial governance and delivery in line with the SanlamAllianz Africa governance requirements and standards.
- The scope of reporting delivery includes, but is not limited to, all published, statutory, SanlamAllianz Africa and Sanlam Group reporting requirements, including delivery of forecasts and annual budgets. The role is responsible for overseeing the smooth delivery of the quarterly actuarial committee agenda, which includes experience investigations, solvency management, asset-liability management, reinsurance optimization, amongst other first-line actuarial responsibilities.
- The role will need to build on relationships with the local management teams, SanlamAllianz Africa internal stakeholders as well as external stakeholders where required. The role will work closely with the Head of Actuarial for Life Insurance of SanlamAllianz Africa, the statutory actuaries of the relevant businesses and the SanlamAllianz Head of Actuarial Control.
- As an experienced member of the team, the role includes providing technical support and mentoring to actuarial students working on other life insurance businesses within the SanlamAllianz Africa portfolio as well as providing support on projects and consolidated reporting deliverables.**What will make you successful in this role?**
- Provide actuarial and business support to SanlamAllianz life insurance businesses, including:
**Valuation and reporting**
- Monthly valuation and management reporting including IFRS17 reporting.
- Half-yearly valuation, management, and embedded value reporting.
- Prepare annual budgets in consultation with in-country management.
- Data management and improvement of processes.
**Experience monitoring**
- Perform, analyse and explain results of experience investigations.
- Initiative in resolving issues and upgrading the environment.
**Actuarial risk control**
- Asset liability management
- Reinsurance management
**Capital management**
**Product management**
- Collaborate with SanlamAllianz product management teams.
- Provide group structuring and pricing support.
**Collaboration**
- Establish and maintain relationships with in-country teams.
**Ad-hoc projects**
- Qualification and Experience- Academically qualified actuarial student or a qualified actuary.
- Min 3-5 years’ relevant working experience.
- Relevant technical / hands-on experience (IFRS 17, EV, ALM, SAM).
- Experience in taking responsibility for and successfully delivering on multiple workstreams / deliverables.
- Experience in taking responsibility for and successfully managing multiple stakeholders (e.g. auditors, stat act, management).
- Experience in managing a small team would be beneficial.
- Knowledge and Skills- Proficiency in DCS and Prophet (preferable)
