General Reinsurance, Cape Town Branch (a subsidary of General Reinsurance AG) is offering an opportunity for Actuarial Student Internship - Life Pricing in our Life Australia, UK, SA, Canada division.

Key Responsibilities

Gen Re isoffering a one-year internship program in the life pricing team. The internshipis based on a high level of empowerment within an exceedingly productiveenvironment, combining on the job training with training phases. This greatopportunity will enable you to learn from within an established pricing teamand collaborate with actuaries across various disciplines in the business. Duringyour time you will gain particular knowledge about reinsurance standards andguidelines, pricing, risk management, tools and, of course, clients.

The keyresponsibilities of the role:
  • Preparing quotations for new business and reviews of existing business for the group life business line.
  • Support of analysis and assessment of group life reinsurance portfolios for the purposes of risk management, experience studies, planning and quotation.
  • Monitoring and provision of management information statistics.
  • Assistance with maintaining the Company's pricing guidelines and pricing tools.
  • Interaction with group life clients.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Completed a relevant University degree involvingactuarial studies.
  • The ability to work in a methodical manner with good numerical and analytical skills.
  • Able to multi-task and work under pressure in meeting internal and external deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, particularly when in new situations or dealing with clients.
  • Very good familiarity with MS Office, especially Excel.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
