The Director of Research & Development (R&D) in the relevant Industry plays a pivotal role in driving innovation, ensuring product excellence, and staying ahead of industry trends.

This leadership position requires a seasoned professional with a strong background in têxtiles, manufacturing, and a proven track record in research and development.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive R&D strategy aligned with the company's business objectives.
  • Provide visionary leadership to the R&D team, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the endtoend product development lifecycle, from concept ideation to market launch.
  • Collaborate with design and production teams to create innovative and marketleading.
  • Identify and evaluate emerging technologies relevant to the relevant industry.
  • Implement cuttingedge technologies to enhance product quality, efficiency, and sustainability.
  • Establish and enforce quality standards for all products, ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
  • Collaborate with quality control teams to implement effective testing protocols.
  • Conduct market research to identify consumer trends, competit or products, and industry developments.
  • Use market insights to inform R&D decisions and maintain a competitive edge.
  • Work closely with crossfunctional teams, including marketing, sales, and manufacturing, to align R&D efforts with business goals.
  • Foster collaboration to integrate customer feedback into product development processes.
  • Develop and manage the R&D budget, ensuring costeffective allocation of resources.
  • Monitor and report on budgetary performance, making adjustments as necessary.
  • Stay abreast of industry regulations and standards, ensuring all R&D activities adhere to legal requirements.
  • Work with regulatory affairs teams to facilitate product approvals.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop a highperforming R&D team.
  • Provide guidance and professional development opportunities to enhance the team's capabilities.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on R&D activities, progress, and key performance indicators.
  • Analyze data to make informed decisions and drive continuous improvement.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors or Master's degree in Textile Engineering, Apparel Design, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in a senior R&D role within the relevant industry.
  • Strong knowledge of têxtile technologies, fabric development, and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.

Salary:
R40, R50,000.00 per month
