About the Position


The Researcher will assist the Senior Researcher to conduct research with a special focus on aspects of productivity and competitiveness, and to analyse the results thereof in accordance with the needs of the Productivity SA and its stakeholders.

To be considered you need the following - Education Qualifications:

  • Minimum_:
  • Honours Degree in Economics
  • Advantageous: _
  • Masters' degree in Economics

You will be a great fit if you meet the following requirements - Professional Experience:

  • At least 5 years' experience in actual Research on Economic related matters
  • Preference will be given to Experience in
    empirical research

What will you be doing:

  • Conceptualise and develop relevant research proposals:
  • Continuously scan the economic arena and identify areas of economic research relevant to the Productivity SA's mission
  • Assist to develop and implement research strategy
  • Assist to develop relevant research proposals
  • Produce productivity and competitiveness reports and other related outputs:
  • Assist to conduct productivity and competitiveness related research
  • Analysis of research undertaken with specific relevance to productivity and competitiveness
  • Compile, collate and analyse data for reports or parts of projects
  • Assist to conduct feasibility studies
  • Assist to conduct benchmarking
  • Assist to produce research reports
  • Assist to produce productivity and competitiveness related articles for publishing in wellreputed journals
  • Assist to promote productivity and competitiveness (publicise findings or changes in productivity trends, comment on policy changes that affect productivity)
  • Dissemination of productivity and competitiveness related information:
  • Assist to promote the importance of the role of productivity and competitiveness in economic growth, employment creation and improvement in standards of living on a continuous basis
  • Assist to organise seminars, conferences & workshops
  • Assist to communicate productivity and competitiveness message to Productivity SA, decision makers and the public
  • Engage in initiatives aimed at productivity and competitiveness awareness
  • Enhancement of image of Productivity SA as an impartial broker and reliable providers of productivity and competitiveness related information
  • Assurance of continued relevance and awareness of productivity and competitiveness in major economic policy related events
  • Assist to advance the influence of Productivity SA within the South African economy
  • Assist to provide productivity knowledge at seminars, conferences & workshops
  • Assist to provide recommendations on priority development issues relating to productivity and competitiveness
  • Stakeholder relations:
  • Collaborate with stakeholders on productivity and competitiveness related issues
  • Observe and act on current Memorandum of Agreements (MoA's) between Productivity SA and other institutions
  • Development of the Annual Budget:
  • Provide input to the development of the annual Budget for the approval of the Executive Manager RIS
  • Monitor and analyse RIS planned versus actual expenses
  • Report on any deviations from the RIS Budget
  • Management of resources in line with time, budget & quality parameters Promote Productivity SA supported programmes

  • Ability to compile productivity and competitiveness related research reports
  • Ability to conduct research on productivity and competitiveness related issues
  • Ability to collect, analyse and interpret data
  • Ability to utilise evidencebased research to advise on productivity and competitiveness related issues
  • Ability to initiate and assess factors that influence productivity and competitiveness growth
  • Knowledge of interaction of productivity and competitiveness with economic growth and development
  • Ability to write policyrelated productivity and competitiveness related articles
  • Ability to organise events to share information with stakeholders
  • Ability to build effective networks & contacts
