Description

This function holds the business ownership of Project Olympus's Data Strategy which includes Data capabilities, Data operating model, Analytics capabilities, and fostering a data-driven culture across the bank. The individual in this role will be in charge of creating, interpreting, and implementing the data strategy, overseeing technologies, automation, processes, and personnel needed to deliver the Data portfolio. The Head of the Data Chapter and Analytics Chapter report to the CDO to provide data-driven banking services to Project Olympus's customers.

At the core, the CDO blends technical expertise, strategic thinking, and business acumen. Serving as a bridge between data teams, stakeholders, and end-users, the CDO translates complex data concepts into actionable insights that generate value and drive innovation. With a deep understanding of data technologies, market trends, and user needs, the CDO plays a vital role in shaping the strategic direction of data products, analyzing market demands, identifying opportunities, and making data-driven decisions to foster product innovation and meet customer expectations.

The incumbent is individually responsible for driving results through the Data Chapter and Analytics Chapter, collaborating with other Product Owners and Chapter Leads within the CTO-Organisation and the wider OML Group.

KEY RESULT AREAS

Project Olympus aims to establish a distinctive standard for its Data Capabilities, including:

  • The CDO develops and implements Project Olympus data strategy and framework to enable leveraging data assets, commercializing assets, and managing associated risks.
  • Lead the Data journey in Project Olympus by supporting Business units in using data capabilities to build and deploy data products (real-time or non-real-time).
  • Lead and support the definition, development, and continuous improvement of data governance policies, processes, standards, and guidelines.
  • Engage with business stakeholders to grasp their business needs.
  • Establish a robust data-driven approach to decision-making across the organization.
  • Design and build data architecture, infrastructure, and operations.
  • Oversee data management, data analytics, and data governance.
  • Ensure controls in place for Partner data management.
  • Ensure the Bank's data ecosystem aligns with Enterprise Data Architecture standards.
  • Incorporate AI, automation, and machine learning capabilities into the data environment.
  • Lead the strategy and execution of data quality management practice.
  • Drive a central Data governance function to establish data standards.
  • Measure and report on Data and Analytics chapter standards adherence.
  • Ensure compliance with data-related regulations, policies, and standards.
  • Drive cost efficiency across data capabilities and ensure effective use of data.
  • Develop and manage a framework to forecast data costs and budgets.
  • Accountable for Servicing Technology Spend and Investment stack (TCO)
  • Owns the backlog for Workflow and Automation
  • Ensure cost efficiency through financial and corporate governance
  • Manage supplier relationships and project budgets.
  • Manage quality people practices
  • Align behavior with organization culture and values.
  • Share knowledge with colleagues and team members.
  • Collaborate with the business to deliver service levels.

Leadership Effectiveness

Role model client-centric behavior and demonstrate Management & Leadership Effectiveness.Set standards of excellence and manage service delivery.Define performance parameters and measurements for the area under supervision.Oversee talent management, including succession planning and skills development.Enable a culture of continuous learning and development.Support change and culture shift initiatives.Ensure compliance with Group Governance Framework and statutory regulations.Understand the business context within which Data Product Owners operate.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications:

Preferred Postgraduate Computer Science or Engineering degree.

Proven experience in:

Senior Management role (Data and Analytics).AWS, Data Technologies, Data Science Technologies, Data Tech Stack, Stream Technologies.Understanding of master and reference data architecture.Ability to engage and influence at a senior level.
