The role:

As a Senior Drug Safety Associate at ICON, you'll work within a large-scale, fast-paced environment.

As part of our Pharmacovigilance and Safety Services Group in ICON, our DSA's contribute to our culture of process improvement, perform expedited and periodic safety reporting, maintain projects and liaise with Sponsors, ICON project managers and investigational sites as required.

Key role responsibilities:

  • Focus on postmarketing PV related activities
  • Ensuring compliance to PV System Guidelines for the local market
  • Act as Local Contact Person for Pharmacovigilance (LCPPV) in South Africa.
As LCPPV for South Africa, you will be responsible for:

  • Local PV intelligence monitoring, interpretation and documentation
  • Review of local medical literature for identification of relevant safety information
  • Review of PV procedures relevant for your country
  • Case processing: Manage intake of ICSRs, data entry into safety database, followup with reporter (written or verbal), with associated tracking and filing as per procedures
  • Opportunity to participate in project management activities such as development of new procedures, direct discussions with the clients, taking on additional LCPPV roles in other countries, supporting with vendor management, participation in audits, inspection and CAPA development etc.
  • Ensure the completion of all departmental project activities accurately in accordance with ICON standards, regulatory requirements, and contractual obligations to sponsors

Key role requirements:

  • Around 6 months experience with PV at a local (South Africa) level
  • Must be fluent in written and verbal English language with excellent communication skills and computer skills. Detail orientated and capable of working effectively within a fast paced team environment and taking ownership of tasks assigned
  • Medical/science background and/or bachelor's degree or local equivalent.
