Financial Manager


We are in search of an experienced Financial Manager who plays a crucial role in the success of a rapidly expanding business. This position is with a renowned wine estate dedicated to the production of top-notch wines, therefore, having a passion for the wine industry is essential.

The Role:

The role will encompass:

Financial Oversight & Reporting:

  • Manage the complete financial cycle for the winery, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial statement preparation (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow statement).
  • Ensure adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) specific to the wine industry.
  • Supervise accounts payable, receivable, and payroll functions.

Financial Planning & Strategy:

  • Develop and maintain annual budgets, integrating production forecasts, sales projections, and marketing strategies.
  • Create long-term financial models to bolster business growth endeavors.
  • Prepare financial feasibility studies for capital expenditure projects (e.g., new equipment, vineyard expansion).

Cost Management & Analysis:

  • Analyze production, distribution, and marketing costs to pinpoint areas for cost-saving and enhancement.
  • Formulate and monitor cost-effective strategies for grape sourcing, winemaking, and inventory control.
  • Execute cost controls and variance analysis procedures.

Industry & Regulatory Knowledge:

  • Remain updated on industry trends, regulations, and tax implications specific to wineries.
  • Oversee compliance with alcohol and beverage control regulations.

Qualifications, Skills & Attributes Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance – Extra credit for CPA or CMA Certification.
  • 5 Years' Financial Management experience in the Wine industry.
  • Profound understanding of cost accounting principles and inventory management practices.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling and forecasting software – Excel; specialized winery software.
  • Exceptional communication skills & ability to collaborate seamlessly with diverse departments.
  • Capability to work autonomously while juggling multiple priorities in a dynamic setting.
