Medical Aid rate based on principal member only)- To be confirmed- Advert Closing Date- 25/2/2024- Job PurposeTo implement the strategic institutional directives, facilitate, coordinate and supports institutional activities in a manner that enhances the institutional transformation agenda and builds the capacity of line managers to manage transformation and promote diversity and to achieve optimal cultural integration.

  • Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • A relevant Master's Degree
  • At least five (5) years' experience managing transformation in a medium to big size organization
  • Solid experience in business analysis and driving organisational change programmes
  • Thorough experience in conflict resolution management
  • Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities
  • Design and implement the University Transformation strategy in alignment with higher education acts.
  • Development of transformation policy and procedures for effective management of university transformation agenda.
  • Promotes advocacy in respect of the transformation imperatives of the institution and monitors compliance thereof.
  • Establish structures to support transformation agenda of the institution, and to ensure that students' and staff forums serve as platform for transformation dialogue to take place.
  • Carries the responsibility of putting in place a programme that will equip effective transformation facilitation and ensure a much needed strategy that will enhance the university's ability to manage a diverse students and staff body.
  • Produces reports for Council and other internal Management forums on regular basis and responds to requests for information from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Liaises with key stakeholders within the university such unions and student representative council; provides support to faculties and services departments to ensure that grievances are directed to appropriate structures for resolution
  • Conducting research and producing reports on various facets of transformation within CPUT, starting with a Transformation Status Quo Analysis
  • Conducting basic benchmarking research on various facets of transformation to align the CPUT transformation agenda with other Higher Educations Institutions
  • Embedding transformation issues in all facets of CPUT including the curriculum.
  • Developing an annual transformation plan that addresses real gaps on a prioritised basis.
  • Developing CPUT transformation indicators using these to track progress based on the Annual Performance Plan.
  • Developing a reporting mechanism to report on set institutional and national transformation targets.
  • Developing in consultation with Vice Chancellor, strategies, programs and implementation plans to promote transformation.
  • Coordinating transformation debates/ seminars and workshops.
  • Facilitating and coordinating awareness campaigns and stakeholder engagements on transformation issues.


 Competencies
  • A thorough understanding of South African Higher Education act and other related act
  • A good understanding of key stakeholder bodies in the higher education sector, and the ability to engage meaningfully both internally and externally
  • Proven experience in working with teams and managing conflicting stakeholder interests
  • Established reputation in building relationships both individually and institutionally in a diverse environment
  • Ability to engage stakeholders including academics on issues of curriculum transformation, organisational culture transformation, as well as transformation of student outlook
  • Conceptual thinking; content development; and research skills
  • Facilitation skills together with the ability to manage conflicting interest
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including high level report writing are required
  • Proven experience in project planning execution and project management
