Role summary
We are looking for an experienced digital education post-production media manager to join our Cape Town production team.

You will work closely with the Senior Production Manager and in collaboration with the other members of the production lead layer.


This position will be responsible for the effective running of Construct Education's post-production team, including effective project timeline management, with a strong focus on driving high quality innovative content, and process optimization.

This role would be well suited to someone familiar with the online education landscape, and must have an in-depth knowledge of post production workflows.


Responsibilities

Accountability for Post-Production on Projects

  • Work with a well established team of digital creatives including producers, designers, editors and animators to develop worldleading educational content
  • Lead on the postproduction aspects of projects in collaboration with a team of video editors and animators, continuously improving processes
  • Work with our Creative Director to ensure we continue to exceed client expectations and lead in our space globally
  • Ensure all projects are delivered on budget and according to an agreed timeline, managing changes with grace, good humour and occasionally a firm boundary
  • Become familiar with GenAI technologies and ensure the team are using the appropriate technology to improve efficiency and productivity
  • Proactively lean into any project issues that are developing and take responsibility for finding resolutions
  • Be the expert in the room on client calls, projecting a strong executive presence, high level of competency and professionalism

Managing and leading the Post Production team

  • Work with the Senior Production Manager on how best to grow and prepare the team for current work and skills that are cuttingedge, including professional development opportunities
  • Ensure the team are set up for success, that they know what they need to achieve and have the support needed, ensuring performance reviews are completed and effective
  • Work with the HR team to support people to implement performance processes for instances where performance standards are not being achieved
  • In collaboration with the Head of Production, participate in recruiting new team members ensuring they fit your team's needs, are a good culture fit and are appropriately onboarded
  • Ensuring the induction and integration of team members into Construct culture, values and ethos
  • Work closely with other departments to coordinate tasks in a way that ensures client satisfaction

Post-Production Team Utilization

  • Have a high level understanding of the projects that are in flight, those that are in the pipeline and those that are imminent and work with the resource manager to ensure we have the right people on the right projects at the right time
  • Using the appropriate people data made available to you, ensure a timeous communication of needs to relevant stakeholders
  • Collaborate with the sales team to ensure understanding of workflows and resource utilisation
  • Ensure effective communication and management of flexible staff and contractors to ensure Construct has the right level of utilization throughout the year

Digital Asset Management

  • Coordinating with IT to ensure optimal running of the Production Team's hardware and software, and arranging maintenance when needed.
  • Proposing and budgeting for new hardware and software to ensure the team is working efficiently.
  • Coordinate with IT to assign new Production Team members with necessary equipment and manage collections when members offboard.
  • Ensure all Production software subscriptions are maintained, assigned and removed throughout the year.
  • Create proposals for new or changing subscriptions and softwares.
  • Maintain postproduction digital assets, ensuring files are stored correctly and ownership is maintained.

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in an education or similar industry
  • At least 5 years experience line managing a team
  • At least 5 years experience in a postproduction related role
  • Professional qualification desired but not required, technical and leadership skills will be primary
  • Proven track record for developing a strong committed, inclusive team culture
