Job Purpose    
Manages the overall Systems Development Life Cycle of the business applications software, delivery solutions and improve the cost, performance, availability and manageability of applications
across their full life cycle.

This post reports to DEPUTY HEAD (APPLICATIONS AND PROJECTS)

Key Responsibility Areas    

 Planning and developing training programming for the workforce.  Preparing and managing capital, expense and project budgets providing cost benefit analysis.  Manages the delivery of quality business systems and enhancements on-time and on-budget.  Provides senior technical leadership to Applications Development Group.  Directs the development of the Applications Systems Architecture and Standards.  Formulates strategy and develops and maintains strategic plans for the Branch.  Establishes standards and techniques for improving the application development processes  and monitors for compliance.

Competencies    

 Organisational Awareness.  Planning and organising.  Monitoring and control.  Advice and guidance.

Essential Requirements    

 Diploma (NQF Level 6) in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) field.  Valid motor vehicle driving license.  6 Years relevant experience.

Preferred Requirements    

 Degree (NQF Level 7) in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) field.  7 Years relevant experience.
