ROLE DESCRIPTION

Cognia Law offers an alternative to candidates who want to experience a different side of law. We are currently recruiting Mid-Level Admitted Attorneys with experience in commercial drafting and negotiating. The successful candidates will be part of a growing and dynamic team based in Cape Town.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Daily responsibilities will include drafting, negotiating and interpreting a wide variety of commercial issues and commercial contracts agreements. Work is varying in nature and complexity.
  • Awareness of, and experience with, related regulatory and legal issues.
  • Assisting in drafting contracts and agreements
  • Helping to gather and prepare legal documents
  • Assessing legal risks
  • Writing and editing commercial reports
  • Offering help and legal support when dealing with business transactions

ROLE REQUIREMENTS
  • Law degree from a top South African or UK/EU tertiary institution
  • 3-5 years' experience at a law firm or in-house legal department with relevant experience
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Developed skills in legal drafting
  • Commercial, pro-active and business-like mindset
  • Comfortable with technological applications, plus a knowledge of legal review platforms will be beneficial
  • Good time management skills and the ability to operate well in a high-pressure environments.
