Our client is looking for a Spray Painter, located in Lynnwood Pretoria.
Purpose of Role:
your primary responsibility is to prepare, paint, and finish vehicles to high-quality standards. Your work contributes significantly to the aesthetic appeal and durability of vehicles, directly impacting customer satisfaction and the reputation of the automotive business.

Duties and Requirements:
  1. Surface Preparation: Prepare vehicle surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, masking, and priming as necessary. Ensure surfaces are free from imperfections and contaminants that could affect the quality of the paint job.
  2. Paint Mixing: Accurately mix paint colors and materials to match vehicle specifications or customer preferences. Adhere to established formulas and standards to achieve consistent results.
  3. Application Techniques: Apply paint using various techniques such as spraying, brushing, and airbrushing, depending on the requirements of the job. Ensure even coverage and smooth finishes while minimizing overspray and waste.
  4. Quality Control: Inspect painted surfaces for flaws, runs, or inconsistencies and make necessary adjustments to achieve desired results. Use precision measuring tools to ensure paint thickness and color accuracy meet specifications.
  5. Equipment Maintenance: Properly maintain and clean painting equipment, including spray guns, compressors, and mixing tools, to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Report any malfunctions or issues for timely repair or replacement.
  6. Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as respirators, goggles, and gloves. Handle paints, solvents, and other chemicals safely and responsibly to minimize health risks and environmental impact.
  7. Team Collaboration: Coordinate with other members of the automotive repair and refinishing team, including technicians, estimators, and managers, to prioritize workload and ensure efficient workflow. Communicate effectively to resolve any issues or concerns that may arise during the painting process.
  8. Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends, new painting techniques, and technological advancements to enhance skills and knowledge. Participate in training programs and workshops to improve proficiency and maintain competitiveness in the field.
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as an automotive spray painter, preferably in a professional automotive repair or refinishing environment.
  • Proficiency in surface preparation, paint mixing, and application techniques.
  • Knowledge of different types of automotive paints, finishes, and materials.
  • Familiarity with painting equipment and tools, including spray guns, compressors, and masking materials.
  • Attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality workmanship consistently.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Adherence to safety protocols and commitment to environmental sustainability.
  • Certification or formal training in automotive painting techniques is advantageous.
