Our client is seeking a Spray Painter position located in Lynnwood Pretoria.

Purpose of the Role:Your main responsibility is preparing, painting, and finishing vehicles to high-quality standards. Your work significantly contributes to the vehicles' aesthetic appeal and durability, directly impacting customer satisfaction and the automotive business's reputation.
Duties and Requirements:
  • Surface Preparation: Prepare vehicle surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, masking, and priming as necessary. Ensure surfaces are free from imperfections and contaminants that could affect the paint job's quality.
  • Paint Mixing: Accurately mix paint colors and materials to match vehicle specifications or customer preferences. Follow established formulas and standards for consistent results.
  • Application Techniques: Apply paint using various techniques like spraying, brushing, and airbrushing, based on job requirements. Ensure even coverage, smooth finishes, while minimizing overspray and waste.
  • Quality Control: Inspect painted surfaces for flaws, runs, or inconsistencies, make necessary adjustments for desired results. Use precision measuring tools to ensure paint thickness and color accuracy meet standards.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and clean painting equipment, including spray guns, compressors, mixing tools, for optimal performance. Report any malfunctions promptly for repair or replacement.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and regulations, including using personal protective equipment (PPE) like respirators, goggles, gloves. Handle paints, solvents, and chemicals safely and responsibly for minimal health risks and environmental impact.
  • Team Collaboration: Coordinate with automotive repair and refinishing team members like technicians, estimators, managers, to prioritize work and ensure efficient workflow. Communicate effectively to resolve any issues during the painting process.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends, new painting techniques, technological advancements to enhance skills and knowledge. Engage in training programs, workshops for proficiency improvement and competitiveness in the field.
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as an automotive spray painter, preferably in a professional automotive repair or refinishing environment.
  • Proficiency in surface preparation, paint mixing, application techniques.
  • Knowledge of various automotive paints, finishes, materials.
  • Familiarity with painting equipment, tools such as spray guns, compressors, masking materials.
  • Attention to detail, ability to consistently produce high-quality work.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, adept at troubleshooting issues.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork abilities.
  • Adherence to safety protocols, dedication to environmental sustainability.
  • Certification or formal training in automotive painting techniques beneficial.
