As a Strata Control Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the stability and safety of underground mining operations by assessing and monitoring the rock conditions.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct geological surveys and assessments to determine rock mass characteristics
  • Assess the stability of underground mining operations and identify potential hazards
  • Design and implement effective ground support systems
  • Monitor and evaluate ground conditions regularly to ensure safety and stability
  • Provide guidance and support to mining crews in relation to strata control
  • Conduct inspections, measurements, and tests to assess rock stability
  • Collaborate with geologists, engineers, and other stakeholders to optimize mining operations
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to strata control activities

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Strata Control Officer in the mining industry
  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Mining Engineering, or related field
  • Chamber of Mines Strata Control Certificate
  • Knowledge of relevant mining regulations and guidelines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
